Sorry if there's a thread on this already...

can we submit suggestions for the random quote generator? I've got 1000s. My favorite of the moment is "Who would Jesus bomb?" spotted on a bumper sticker.

You can submit the quotes directly all by your lonesome. Click on "Add a quote" in the bottom left corner of the box, enter the source and the quote itself and click submit. Don't try to use vB code cause it doesn't work and don't add quotation marks around the quote cause the system adds those itself.

That's all there is to it. :)

Neato! That sounds a little too easy, actually. Is there any accountability? I mean, what if I just wanted to fill the thing with swears? ;)

He he... Your friendly neighborhood admins can delete anything retarded. We used to have it set to moderated so we could check on stuff before it posted, but we soon realized we're just too lazy for that shit so we opted for trusting you bastards instead.

Are the quotes limited to #395?

I'm pretty sure I've added a couple recently and I don't see them.

I read that one here, Ensign Steve. I thought it was great!
You should add more. :)

Good catch, Ronin. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't seem like quotes can be added at the moment. Hmm... I hope people read this thread before trying to add any more yet.

Argggggghhh. I spent an hour and a half the other day posting an ass load of great quotes and you can't get them back? :(

I feel your pain. One of mine was lost, too. One whole quote!

Oops. I misspoke, sorry. Quotes can be added (ie. they are successfully stored in the database when added) and may even be shown by the randomizer. However they aren't showing up when you "view all quotes".

Problem solved.

Thanks vm, you are great!

I however am not so great. :dunce: There is a typo in quote 422 which I just submitted "that" should be "than."

Thanks in advance.

Quote 444 and 445 are identical.

I'll give SkepticJ the benefit of the doubt and assume it was an accident.

Fixed, Crumb. Thank you. :thankee:

Wait. Can people just read the quotes like in a list? I was trying to give Dorian examples and I had to refresh the page 100 times to get like three good quotes! ;)

You should see a "View All" link in the bottom left of the quote window. You can browse all the quotes in the database in order of submission. :)

Yay! Neato! I should know by now that if there is a "Wait. Can we really...?" question, the answer is either "yes" or "we can now!" This board is the bomb.
