These are cool. (http://www.michelinman.com/difference/releases/pressrelease01102005a.html) What do you think? When the tread finaly wears off they can retread them so you can keep the same Tweels. They have a bit more work to do but damn so cool!

If they could just incorporate some sort of electrically activated bimetal technology that would change spring rates of the flexible spokes, the same Tweel could give a soft ride when in cruise mode and a much stiffer more responsive ride in sport mode.
Perhaps I should put this in the good ideas thread.

Why don't you suggest that to THEM? They might do it, if they haven't already thought of it. I can't wait until I have a mountain bike with these kinds of tires. Do you have any idea how annoying it is to have to air up your tires before you go out to ride? And flats, arggggg dammit.

In order to make something like that work for a bicycle or a motorcycle it would have to have a curved tread. Anything above a fast walking speed, motorcycles and bicycles (and probably unicycles) don't turn by steering in the direction of the turn, but by leaning, which actually requires the front tire to be angled opposite of the turning direction (countersteer).
