Got some pics back, thought I'd share.
Part of me (frosted-over) backyard:

Me tree:

One of me eagles:

I can't wait until the weather is a bit nicer. The view is quite pretty from the second story, but the windows are often frosted over (and plus, we have plastic on them so it makes pictures a bit difficult). I should be able to take some good shots from the roof. There are also lots of very scenic little creeks (bigger than ours) around, as well as the river and the lake. Might have to get some new lenses... :)
And while I'm at it, some updated pics (well, last fall)...
Me son

Me daughter (that was Halloween; she doesn't normally wear that. ;) )

So Iowa really is that flat no matter where you go eh?
I was out to Ames once to do some collaborative work with some fine folk at the USDA facility there, and it looked like good farmland. Oklahoma is the same way.

It's really not that flat (at least, compared to where I was in NW Ohio). Once the snow melts I should be able to get some better pics that show the contours of the land a bit more. Right now with everything white, there's just not enough contrast.

That bald eagle perched up on your tree is gorgeous. It'll be nice to see when there's some foliage around too. It's a bit Carnivale right now, if you know what I mean.

Hey great pics Roland. I can't believe how much space you have out there, and your kids are still adorable. :)

I'm with liv, without the foliage it looks a little barren, but I bet it's gorgeous in Spring. I totally love that you have those enormous eagles, that is so cool.
And there ain't nothing wrong with a little girl wearing a crown all the time. Especially one as pretty as Aurora. Your son I could just hug all day, too, what a doll.

Your children are beautiful Roland. If your daughter is anything like mine were at that age those are the kind of clothes they preferred to wear....all the time.

Really cute kids, Rol. It certainly looks like they'll have a lot of running space come warmer weather. And stands of trees for shade.
That looks like ideal dog country, too, if you're so inclined.
I'll bet you get great thunderstorms and fireflys, too. We don't have those out here.
I can't see the photos :hulk: Why does my company think that photobucket.com is not a useful business site? Will have to look from home.

Thanks everyone! Of course, you're all welcome to stop by if you're out this way. ;) I do assume that it will be a bit more lush in the summer, and I think there will be corn (of course) in at least some of the fields out back. Beyond that red gate is where the cattle will be as well. We first stopped by here when I was out for a visit in October, and it's very pretty in the fall as well.
ex-zombie,
Actually Aurora is quite a tomboy most of the time (note the sneakers). But sometimes she surprises me. She originally had a very nice elephant costume, but we were dropping some stuff off at the Salvation Army and she saw that dress and decided she needed to be a princess instead.
godfry,
I do have 2 tiny dogs, which we acquired waaaaaay back when we were living in the city in a 600 SF apartment. Now we could have a pack of mastiffs and they'd still have plenty of room. :) But they are lovin' it so far, 'cept when the snow is higher than they are.
I really am loving the wildlife here. Stopped by the river on the way to work today because there were 3 eagles there fishing. There were a bunch of pheasants in our woods yesterday too that I just watched for awhile. I really, really, really need to get a good telephoto lens...*drools*

Thanks for the pics, Roland. I think vm hit on the points I would have made.
Yeah, I'm still in the market, sort of, for a decent telephoto lens for my film camera.
/me likes the eagles
