We don't subscribe to the Denver Post, but they leave us Sunday papers sometimes anyway, which we dutifully bring into the house and put in our paper recycling box.

So today, I bring in the paper, and I take the paper out of the big plastic bag they have it in, and there's another plastic bag inside.

It was a 4/20 or an early Earth Day present or something from Georgia Pacific, makers of Brawny brand paper towels!

Here is the specially branded promotional plastic bag, which is about the same size as the newspaper bag:

Here is the other side of the bag:

So I tear open the little plastic compartment to get the glossy color folder thing inside, which contains another small plastic bag stuck to the inside of that:

And I open that up to reveal a folded up paper towel and a piece of glossy white cardboard:

And here is the paper towel unfolded, in all its glory!

Happy Birthday, Hitler!

and I was hoping it would be a centrefold of the Brawny guy.

I liked the old one better. I imagined him cruising around town in an El Camino wearing one of those hats that said "Moustache Rides 5¢" and some aviator sunglasses.

I miss that guy.

ETA: Today is not only a day to honor the jazz musicians' cigarettes, but to celebrate Hitler's birthday and the anniversaries of the Ludlow Massacre and the Columbine shootings. The card that came with the paper towel didn't say which, though. Maybe I should send them an angry letter about them trying to secularize 4/20 with their evasive political correctness.

And that wasn't even the puny pick-a-size one, either, was it? That baby looks like a full sheet to me.

Now...that's four sheets of plastic per paper towel they're sending out to each recipient of the Denver Posthole?

I think they should have put the whole thing in a big arsed cardboard box with Brawny man glossies plastered on the sides.

That would have made it really special.

No idea what it has to do with paper towels, but it's James Chance's birthday (http://illusorytenant.blogspot.com/2008/04/happy-birthday-james-siegfried-of.html) today too.

thank you for that picture tour, but it would have been more keeping in spirit to have printed us all up copies, with each caption printed on its own card, in an envelope inside a bigger envelope...

Jeez, that'd be great, because I really, really care about how my paper towels measure up.

Do you ever picture the Brawny guy and Mr. Clean getting it on? I think they would totally make a hot gay couple.
