The second is also known as a 'pill bug'.
If he's eating those, he's 'pill popping'.

When notsosure was about 2-1/2, she picked up and popped a slug into her mouth. She spit it out right away, saying to me, "That's not gum." I told her, "Rocketgirl, you're not supposed to pick up used chewing gum and put it in your mouth either."

Strictly speaking, neither of those is a "bug."
The first is an orthopteran -- a relative of grasshoppers.
The second is an isopod crustacean.

Strictly speaking, it isn't a "bug" at all. It's an isopod crustacean.
sounds gourmet...almost french.

Think of it as a close relative of a lobster (which it is). Maybe he's just getting a taste for it while young ...

I bet it wasn't his first bug. :giggle:
It was just the first one you caught him eating.
MMmmm, isopod crustacean. Fantastic with a little garlic butter. :yum:

Isopod crustacean sounds like a foot disorder.
I like the pill bugs- as bugs, not lunch. Potato bugs, though- ooh- they are icky.

:wriggle: I love roly-polies. Not so much as snacks, but as toys I'm all over them.
