How much do you know about lost civilizations?
Take this (http://encarta.msn.com/quiz_311/lost_civilizations_quiz.html?GT1=27004) short quiz and find out. I must confess that I did not do very well. I missed three out of 7.:(
I did not do well. only 3 out of 7 correct. :dopey:

5/7
I had no idea about the first two so chose the goriest answers and was correct.
I actually knew the answer to the Viking question #3.
For #4, I guessed because Venus is one of the brightest planets and Mars makes sense only for the Classical model.
For #5, I guessed that the answer had to do with elevation but was wrong in picking 'below sea level.'
I knew about the Coptic Church (oldest Christian church) for #6.
Guessed Fiji for #7 but was wrong. Don't really know much about Pacific islands.

I suck harder than anybody: 1 out of 7.
That's pretty sad for a multiple choice quiz. :sadcheer:

I got 2/7. One of those I knew (Coptic Church) and the other one I guessed right on the True/False question. There's another one I thought I knew, but got wrong - The Mayans and the Martians. :sadcheer: Dude, I suck.

Well, I don't feel nearly so bad now. Thanks alot for boosting my self esteem folks. The three that I missed were all guesses, and I guessed wrong. The four that I got right I got right because I knew the answers. So, I guess that proves that I am a lousy guesser.

5 out of 7. I dance in hay!
...okay, I guessed at damn near every one of them.

Fucking Micronesia.
I got #5 from the contextual cues in the question and answer options, though.

Who missed the Scottish warriors one?

I missed that one. I was sure it should have been a dried haggis, but that choice was not included.

5 of 7, I got the Micronesia one right but only because of looking up Palau in Wikipedia just a few weeks ago because of a WWII movie that was on AMC.

Actually it was the ancient Picts that did it, not Scots. The Scots came from Ireland by way of Northumbria.

Sorry, Scots did as well. It was a Celtic trait, practiced by all subdivisions of Celtic culture. The warriors of Dalraida also collected decapitated heads as war souvenirs. As did the Irish, Welsh, and Cornish.
I got 6/7 and called a "regular Indiana Jones".

That's a new one on me. I knew some of the Welsh and Cornish tribes did that, but head cult finds are relatively uncommon in Scotland.

Who missed the Scottish warriors one?
I missed that one. It sounded too smelly to be true.
I got 5/7, also missed the "When do Mayans go to war?" one, since I thought Venus is just too swift to be a reasonable war signal.

Mayhaps they were poor warriors?

Maybe the Scots are just better at hiding them?

Depends on how often they wanted to go to war. Given the nature of Mezoamerican gods, it was probably every Tuesday.

You got 6/7 correct.
Damn! I am not the Scotsman I think I am. Though it was a trick answer I must say--I had been led to believe that the Celts displayed their collections of decapitated heads on the door posts OUTSIDE their homes, not anywhere in them. So the sundial choice seemed the most plausible answer given that head question was actually WRONG the way it is worded.
Yeah and I totally guessed on the Micronesia question.

You're a regular Indiana Jones.
You got 7/7 correct.
I rule!
But to be honest, I had to take educated guesses to questions 1, 2, 5 and 7.
1: Come on, liberating, defending and commanding aren't really god-worthy qualities. Decapitating, on the other hand...
2: Much the same reasons as the above answer, really.
5: The South America like sculpture pictured with the question helped a lot.
7: Blind stab in the dark, but I still rule.

Except for maddog's and Stormlight's scores I am officially discounting all of the scores posted after post #10. This is on the priniciple that everyone who scored better than me did so by picking up some random answers from the other posts in the thread. You are all a bunch of cheaters and I fully intend to so inform mickthinks.

That was one of the 3/7 I did get right.
5/7, but two of my correct answers were guesses based on context. The ones I actually knew were Greenland vs Iceland, Tiwanaku, and Coptics.
