View Full Version : Woohoo!

Okay this'll be rushed 'cos I'm busy geting Zoe organised to go back to school this afternoon, and I have a CV to compose.
Woohooo!
I can't contain my excitement!
Since New Year, I've been planning a timeline for this year's personal growth and ambitions.
I decided that I was going to work either at Telecom or Yellow Pages or something better. Preferably back at Yellow Pages. I was going to cold call their agency next week, after getting Zoe back to school. I was simply going to hound them till they employed me, and I was determined to start work before March.
So, last night I get an email from the Telecom jobs website. Before Xmas I put my profile up there, and last night they emailed me to tell me that a job that fits my profile is coming up at Yellow Pages. So I fill in the application online, stating that me and the job were made for each other. :D
This morning I get a call from the employment agency that handles Telecom/Yellow Pages and I have an interview with them on Monday, when the Managers all get back from their national conference.
It apears that I have gone directly to the short list, and I reckon the job is mine. :D
Funny, last time I worked for Yellow Pages it was pure serendipity, too.
It is meant to be. :D
Anyway - wish me luck! And I'll let you know how it goes.
My fingers are crossed. I may be a fulltime worker on a fairly good salary in the not too distant future. Woohoo!
:woohoo: :slide: :bgirl: :bliss: :cheerful: :greed: :flex: :fly2: :bubbles: :cloud9: :flower: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks, Ymir!
I sure do hope I win. :D
I do feel pretty darned confident, but then you never know who else is entered in the draw, so my confidence could of course be shattered in a week or so, but I got this feeeeeling....teehee. I'm so excited!

Well, that's the first interview down.
Spoke with the agency rep today, and got along just fine.
She told me that my stiffest competition is a woman who has spent the couple of years working in a target driven sales environment with very good results.
I told her that if I did miss out on the Yellow Pages job, that I would like to also be considered for anything within Telecom or Yellow Pages, and she told me that she would not place someone with my vitality and intelligence :D at Telecom, because "I'm too good". :D She told me there were other jobs that would be better suited to me if I miss out on YP. At this stage, though, it's all looking good. Not secure, by no means, but good anyway. :)
I'm happy.

Further update - yes, I'm fizzing. :D
I got a call from the agency early this afternoon to ask me if I would be available for an emergency meeting with the YP office manager. He was my old trainer back in the day, and told me he was delighted to see my name among the candidates. I got a big hug and loadsa smiles. The interview with him and another one of the managers - someone I had not met before - went extremely well. Nick was beaming all through the interview and when he'd ask me a question related to various hypothetical sales situations, he and his sidekick would grin and nod and say "brilliant answer!" to me. He also told me that he knew how good I was, but he wanted to se me "sell myself" to his sidekick - to tell her why I should get the job. So I did, and after I finished my schpiel, she grinned and said "well, I'm sold!" :D
At the end of the interview, I cheekily asked when they'd like me to start. LOL. Nick said "you know I can't tell you that, Petra, we still have to follow protocol and go through the process". But he beamed at me in such a way - and his sidekick seemed so genuinely impressed with me, too - that I'm 99% certain that job is mine. I know Nick wants me on his team, that's for sure. :)
Damn, I hope I start work on Monday! :bgirl:
Naturally nothing is secure - I do have some hefty competition, but ...well.... I just reckon I'm in with a grin, mate! :D

The suspense is killing me, too. I still don't know anything.
I went up to meet the team thismorning, though. The manager, Nick, got me up there to meet with them all and have me ask them questions and them ask me questions. As far as I know, it all went swimmingly.

- ty One. :naughty:
Started bright and early. Met the three teams that reside in the office (about 30 odd-people. Yes, odd people.) Young teams, felt like the granny till one girl asked me how old my daughter was and when I told her she was 11, she said "oh, you must have had her really young!" When I said that I was 30 when I had her, her jaw dropped and she said, "fuck, I'd picked you as being late 20's/early 30's!". Felt good. Then my team all went out to a nice cafe for morning tea, courtesy of management, and drank lattes and gasbagged for almost an hour. Then when we got back to the office, the employment agency rep came in with a rich chocolate cake and a boysenberry cheesecake and said to us two new girls (yes, they couldn't decide between me and my competition, so created a new job so as to accommodate us both), "these cakes are for you from us for you to share with your new team members. So we stopped and had more coffee, cake and gasbagging. Then it was lunchtime. Then we learned some stuff. Which, 'cos I've worked for the comapny before, I aleady knew. Then we got booked into a hotel in Auckland next week for the first of our training courses. Then we had an uproarious time discussing the donkey punch sexual technique. Then we did more product knowledge/ sales training. Then we went home.
What a splendid day! I look forward to tomorrow. :D
