I got a wireless mouse for my laptop. The first one I used for the system was a trackball. Then I used an optical mouse, then a graphics tablet and then another optical mouse. I got a wireless one because some of the other mice died when their wires got bent too much from things such as getting stuck between the lcd screen and the computer.
How do you like wireless mice? Should I try a wireless keyboard too? The program it would be of the most use on my system would be Celestia, especially if I use the tv at home as a screen. My laptop has loose q, f4 and home keys and lots of keys have smooth spots.
Should I try soldering new usb cables onto the mice with the bent cables?
You got a mice? You should go and get a dictionaries too. :P
Wireless mice is nice. The only problem with mine is it chews through batteries.
How old is your laptop? A wireless keyboard may be great, but one day your laptop is going to die. Don't bother trying to fix old mice. Unless just for fun.

I tried a wireless mouse about six years ago and there was the slightest (yet perceptible) lag between when I moved it and when the cursor moved. That was a deal-breaker for me 'cause I like playing games. Are they still like that?
On the other hand I refuse to use anything other than an optical mouse, 'cause mice with balls get dirty and sluggish. Like most creatures with balls.

We have a new wireless mice. . .uh, it's by Logitech and it says MX LASER on it. That's all I know about it. Me smart about computors. I like it and the last Logitech wireless mouse we had--which eventually croaked due to the battery? I don't know--for all I know we got a new mouse because this one is black and cool-looking.
I don't notice any lag time between movement and screen, and I know that RA doesn't complain about it re: games. I do like the new mouse--although we bought a new mouse pad which I hate. At first, I thought it was the mouse being screwy--but now I think it's just the mouse pad that annoys me.

I've got a wireless optical mouse (Logitech) on this PC, and a wireless optical mouse and keyboard (a Microsoft set) on another one.
I don't notice any lag at all - but I don't do much gaming. I think with modern cordless set-ups, the lag has reduced to the point where even a keen gamer might not be able to detect it.
There was a problem with Doom 3 behaving as though the keyboard had a key stuck down (on the Microsoft wireless keyboard) but I fixed it by just plugging the wireless interface into a USB socket, instead of the PS2 connector (it has both leads).
The batteries on the Logitech last about a month (2 x AA) and the Microsoft ones even longer, though I don't use that PC as much. You need to keep a spare set of batteries handy, as it would be really annoying to have the PC locked up just 'cos the batteries in the mouse or keyboard had died.
I bought a Logitech Mouseman cordless optical over 3 years ago and it has performed without a hitch. It goes through a pair of AA alkaline batteries in about 3 weeks so I got a charger and 4 NiMH rechargables. I still get about 3 weeks on a charge. My next mouse will again be one of the high-end Logitech mice like the Logitech MX 1000 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=9043) laser which has a rapid recharge base.

Hey, that link looks like our mouse. I really hope that we didn't pay that much for it. Oh, well, ignorance is bliss. Both of our wireless mice have been rechargeable ones. For our old mouse that took a while to recharge, we just always had another corded mouse plugged in at all times on the desktop. The only problem with that is that sometimes we would step on the cord and the corded mouse would spookily move the cursor around.

I bought my Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=7109) last March and have only had to change its batteries once. I have always had good luck with Logitech mice, and I was pleased to find that the reliability continues. :yup:

I tried a wireless mouse about six years ago and there was the slightest (yet perceptible) lag between when I moved it and when the cursor moved. That was a deal-breaker for me 'cause I like playing games. Are they still like that? Unless my reflexes are shot I'd say no, since I haven't noticed that one bit. It could be that the area you used in isn't great for reception though, that can cause lag.

I haven't noticed any lag. I guess I'll get a wireless keyboard when I get a new system. I got my laptop in winter 2002. That was a long time ago when I was still a xian and living with my 2nd xian roomie, the one who discussed grudge matches and funny porn with me. Now one of the hinges of the screen is broken and I can turn the screen 180 degrees. So if the screen comes off, I'd need to use the vga or svideo out port. And I'd move stuff to the new system with a crossover cable.

The mouse I replaced with the wireless mouse had bad buttons. I realized that I could try taking the cord from that mouse and solder it to the graphics tablet to make good the $100 I paid for it. It is a ps/2 mouse and an usb graphics tablet, so I might take out the bent middle part of the usb cable and plug the usb connector into the adaptor and somehow use that and the good wire to connect the tablet.

I bought a wireless keyboard and mouse (I don't remember the brand name) and didn't like either one, I noticed lag time on both of the devices and errors in keyboard input at times, especially when batteries were getting low. My wife now uses both of them at work, doesn't seem to bother her. The new Dell we got for my daughter has both and seems to work fine. I use a Yahoo! mouse now, but it has a tail.
I have never noticed even a slight time lag on my wireless mouse. Maybe it refuses to work before there's a danger of that, and that's why its battery life seems to be so short.
