View Full Version : Warning! Addictive game.

Don't say I didn't warn you!

It's a fun game where you draw simple stuff (balls, blocks, wedges, etc.) which then work according to the laws of physics (gravity etc.)

On each level you have to try and propel a ball to a flag or flags.

The game certainly looks interesting. I think I will try it out more in depth later since I am in the middle of something now.

I finished the game.

As you can see, I made a crude chain to complete level 26.

I'm sure I could complete the game in about 100 shapes or so if I do it again.

No, this isn't remotely addictive at all. :twitch:

How do you make it roll uphill? I'm trying to kick it, using a hinge, but I wonder if there's a simpler way.

Damn, I can't get out of Level 8. I fail at this game.

Totally not addictive, though. :twitch:

Sometimes a 'kicker' using a large base block with an axle at the top holding a swinging pendulum is the best way to get the ball going fast.

You know you can put pins and axles in the ball / block you are trying to move? So sometimes you pin the ball onto a long lever and make a see-saw to lift it up higher - then you can put a block underneath the ball and erase the see-saw.

And you can make a chain by using lots of thin rods joined together with axles at each end and then hang a heavy block on the end of the chain to pull the ball over obstacles.

For Level 8, I first built a bridge between the leftmost and rightmost platforms. Then I rolled the ball down a ramp to the right platform to get the first flag, the ball bounced back of a wedge I put at the end and then I used the eraser to get rid of the first ramp so the ball can roll across the bridge to get the second flag. Then I erased the bridge and made a new ramp down to the final platform.

I wasn't aware I could pin or hinge the ball.

I was working on level 10 (i believe - the second one with the snow) when my computer locked up and I had to give up.

When you go back to it, it will remember how far you got and you can skip to any level you've done before (plus the new one). It stores the info in a cookie.

orly! Neat. Well, depending on when and how often it sets the cookie. When my computer decides to lock up, it decides to lock the fuck up.

My high score is around 17 meters. Try beating that :)

I'm having real fun with the bubblebox game. I like that you are free to draw whatever you want in order to complete each task. I also like the idea that there are other, maybe better, ways a level can be completed, and I expect I'll go round again if and when I get to the end.

Okay, I have replayed Magic Pen a few times with the aim of reducing the number of shapes drawn to complete each level to a minimum, and my total for the 26 levels is down to 55.

I guess it's beatable but I'd like to see you try ...

I got the shits with it and made a perpetual motion machine instead.
I never did have much spatial awareness.

Ok, so it needs some minor tweaking. I never was much good at perpetual motion machines...:chin:

How the shit do you get past level 10?

Don't remember. What does it look like?

One way is to do it in three stages:

First, create a medium-sized ball to drop down onto the edge of the upper level platform, so that it is deflected against the pivoting bar and the big block, knocking the block off into the abyss. I nearly forgot, you need to erase this ball.

Next, draw a long ramp from red ball to the upper level. It helps if this has a wedge shape so that the end nearest the ball is sliver-thin. Sometimes the ramp slips leftwards a little and nudges the ball off, but trial and error will give you a ramp that you can use. And create a large ball centred just left of the radius of the red ball and as high as possible. It is possible to do this in such a way that the drop onto the red ball propels it all the way up to the top flag.

Thirdly, erase the ramp before the ball bounces back off the right side wall. Now, the ball should do the rest itself, rolling off the top level and tipping the pivoted bar which either bounces it off the lower left barrier, or nudges directly it toward the second flag.

3 shapes used.
