Despite being an ex twice removes STEP grandparent, My kids have spent a fairly large amount of time with her. Heck *MY* kids were the last "family" members to go visit her in the old age home.
So despite my kids knowing the lady as "Great Grandma Lynn" and spending time with her and visiting with her...
No one bothered to call us to tell us she had died. Not just "us" as in the kids and I...ex's Dad didn't even call him!
We found out that Lynn had died because Ex's Mentally handicapped Uncle called looking for a ride to "the funeral" to which ex responded with "what funeral?" He then calls me to find out WTF is going on.
So the lady passed away 5am Monday morning, the Funeral is 1pm Friday and Ex and I were just given ONE DAYS NOTICE to make arrangements to attend.
One day to find babysitting for the kids, because it's a pro-d day one day for ex to try and get out of work, because he wont automatically get it off, because well it is his Ex step mothers Mother, not really a relative...plus he called in sick yesterday.
On the bright side...I get the Little old ladies walker and get to save myself almost $200. I might even get a wheelchair out of this deal.
:sadcheer: At least it was a fast thing for Lynn. Fell asleep around 10, was in a Coma at 12am bed check and dead by 5am.
