View Full Version : Total War
Anyone else on here a fan of this series? I'm mostly asking because solo playing M2 is starting to get old (only starting!) and I don't like multiplayer with random people...
Anyway, great series, my personal favorites are Rome and Medieval 2, but then, I've hardly met anyone who thinks differently...

I've only played Rome and M2, so I guess they'd be my favourites too :P Pretty cool games, although I never had the patience to make it to the end of a campaign.
Not really up for MP right now. Maybe later. No great loss, I'm crap at battle tactics.
Empire looks like it will be pretty cool. I hope they'll tidied up some of the campaign game issues. I'll probably see what the bug reports are like this time and only get it after the biggies have been found and patched.
I only ever played Shogun and Rome. I thought the real time tactical combat was fantastic (especially in Rome), but that the strategic turn based portion was shallow and boring. I'm a game snob, though, so anything less complex than, say, Civilization feels shallow to me.
Ah, Civilization. Now there's a great game series. I like 4, but 2 will always have a special place in my game collection. I love the Council in 2, and I've always been disappointed that all the Council has done since has been text bubbles.

The TW strategy games wouldn't be that great on their own, but the interaction between strategy and tactical makes both much more interesting, in the way that decisions and success or failure in one has direct effects on what happens in the other.
Hmm... might have to fire up M2 for another go sometime...

I have Medieval 1 and I've played the M2 demo, but haven't got it. I too love the mix of strategy and war. I've had civilizations crumble after a badly thought out war.
Civilization. One of the best series' of all time for sure. I only have Civ III and Civ: Call to Power, both are excellent. I also like EE and AoE. And Sim City. Love that game.
