This is just a ping to the peeps in the hood since I've been mute here for the last few.

I've fallen into an old and curious pattern in which I don't have anything of consequence to say and have therefore felt obligated to say nothing at all.

I'm drunk as a lord and have within the last hour had the slightly disturbing experience of lying entangled with my similarly drunk best friend's wife (who I'm slightly attracted to despite myself) on a big dog cushion which the large dog that usually occupies it had temporarily abandoned (after we fed him KFC) quietly talking shite and avoiding eye contact.

Earlier we went on a hellride where she drove like a crazed Greek with a grudge on a hot day, with an Internet-sourced, old school friend of hers from England who is sleeping over and had apparently had enough of my philosophical, not-so-subtle criticisms of his apparent love and political support for the fucking British National Front, and gone to bed.

I spent a good part of the evening responding to his apparent dislike for Those Muslims who Come Over Here and Refuse to Assimilate but I'm Not a Racist shtick with a long lecture on the virtues of love and understanding as a way of winning people over to one's world view vs the Be Like Me You Foreign Fucker approach, rather than screaming wildly at him - and am hoping it will have some impact on his angry subconscious sometime within the next 20 years, as these things do, slowly.

How are all you lovely people? I'm sure at least one person here is as delirious as yours truly about the fact that Mr O is gonna take the US presidency in a landslide.

Oh and Liv, can you email me a new pw? I've just checked my email address and its an address I'm incapable of checking so can you send it to

blablabla@bla.bla

?

I only managed to log in because Firefox remembered it from the last time, but I'm worried it may not in future. I'm willing to answer questions referencing back to IIDB days to confirm I am the one and only Farren as opposed to, say, latinj___ (redacted for fear of summoning that notorious south/central American malevolent spirit)

ETA: Thanks liv, I've removed the address above for privacy reasons

Hello Farren! Your OP makes it difficult for me to believe that you could go any period of time without something consequential to say. Hang around a bit.

Right now I'd hazard a guess at aspiring to a different profession, but I don't know who you're talking about...

I can't speak for the lovely people, but I'm fine. Off to France on Sunday, actually.

Just got my taxes for 2007 in and within two weeks, I'll have more than enough to replace my play money in France.

I'm delirious, I'm spending my $600 of 'economic stimulus' in France!

:nelson:

Buck you, Fush the Douche!

I'm gonna wear my "Official Overseas American Tourist Apology" teeshirt - comes with all the UN languages translating that title on the front, with the same six languages translating on the back, "I'm sorry about my idiot president. I didn't vote for him." I'm hoping for it will be for the last time.

Which brings me to your assertion. Not to kill your buzz, or anything, but this election may well not be over until Diebold is indicted. The American public does some really, really stupid things in elections. I mean...for example, a calm, well-educated, scholastic type like me? I've actually only willingly voted for only one successful presidential candidate in nine presidential elections. One other time and held my nose to vote for a candidate who won. I basically have a shitty track record of picking winners.

This year, I'm voting against John McCain. I wish to stop him, and now, even more, he and his running mate, Sarah Palin, from obtaining high office in the United States. I personally think it will be bad for us. All of us. The United States needs eight years of national executive responsibility. Not yet another rehash of the same old shit.

The Republican Party needs to be trashed, or at least the Conservatives need to erect a party with strict civil libertarian guidelines of protecting citizen rights from governmental interference. It is a valid philosophical position, in my opinion. Anyway, that is not what has been offered since the rise of the Reagan administration, because the military/industrial complex was on top and....lo and behold...the one thing they didn't want to happen, happened...they won. If they didn't move quickly, they'd no longer have a credible purpose in the New World Order. The neo-cons barged in to save us all and continue to milk the armaments industry which operates on government contracts. Private companies, more and more, on contract with the Department of Defense (now the ultimate hypocrisy in departmental titles), scrape in bazillions of dollars on overpriced sweet deals known as "no bid contracts". Private security companies, on DoD dole...that's mercenaries, folks. Y'know, like those nasty Hessians the British borrowed to suppress our founding fathers.

Looks like the shoe is on the other foot, now, don't it?

Why do these people hate America? Why do these people drag America through the dirt and blood to aggrandize themselves and their pocketbooks?

Have you bought stock in the "Endless War" yet? I hope not.

Just read your suggestion on another thread about everyone starting banks in response to the financial crisis. That, and I was drunk last night when I wrote it :)

Of course! I'd already forgotten that post. I was only half joking, but I'm far too lazy to follow through myself. Right this moment I'm an aspiring brewer. More rewarding.
