View Full Version : The Force Will Be With You...Someday
Well, what IGN calls "one of the worst kept secrets in the industry" (http://pc.ign.com/articles/922/922115p1.html) is officially not a secret any more. Bioware is making an MMO based on the Star Wars IP, set 300-ish years after Knights of the Old Republic. Very little concrete info is available so far, but I'm semi-hopeful. Star Wars Galaxies sucked hard, but Bioware can do a decent job of making an MMO in the Star Wars universe, if anyone can.
ETA: Dammit, I hit Post and immediately think of a better title. Please pretend that I called this thread "The Force Will Be With You...and You, and You, and You, and..."

Sure adam, I will pretend that your thread title is good, in fact I will nominate the thread title that wasn't this month.
:woohoo: for pity nominations!

Awesome. Bioware know how to make good single player MMO's (except for frikken Mass Effect, which after I realised it was just a grind-your-way-through shooter with lots of pointless dialog, was the biggest disappointment of last year).

Mass Effect was teh funnz0rz! :glare:
And I'll finish it some day so I can say I told you so.
Having :glare:'ed, I can see why Farren would not like Mass Effect. IIRC, he likes story driven RPG's, with character development that's affected by player choice and shit. Player driven character development in Mass Effect is more or less limited to which stat bonuses you get and which crew member you do it with.

I generally prefer story-driven RPGs, myself, but what I played of Mass Effect before the next shiny wandered into my field of view was a lot of fun.

Mass Effect was lame. I was all excited when I bought it, thinking it would be like KOTOR (you know, with lots of side quests and non-violent story elements and all that good stuff) then realised it was nothing more than an over-wordy shooter that was ON RAILS. Even worse, the companion AI reminded me of a 1980's game. I hatez it. I can play multiplayer shooters online any time I want and they're much more fun. What's the frikken point? Stupid Bioware.
But apart from that, they generally know how to make a good RPG.
p.s. I think what got me really cross about Mass Defect was the fact that the pre-launch hype from Bioware made it out to be KOTOR on steroids, but the game was nothing like KOTOR.

I have yet to be disappointed by a Bioware game but I do have my doubts of them making a MMO game. The story I'm sure will be top notch but the game play is what really worries me.
