My daughter is taking Chinese language lessons. I'm learning a lot, as I speak Cantonese and her lessons are in Mandarin.

Here's one of her favorite nursery rhymes:

YouTube - Two Tigers

Here's a translation of the lyrics:

Two tigers, two tigers
Run so fast, run so fast
One has no tail
One has no ears
How very strange, how very strange

Two tigers, two tigers
Run so fast, run so fast
One has no nose
One has no hair
How very strange, how very strange

:nope: That's Frère Jacques.

Srsly, that's cool. How old is your daughter?

She's six years old...going on 13, apparently.

I haven't the heart to tell her that those tigers aren't all that strange, once you see the Traditional Chinese Medicine shop with fully-stocked tiger parts.

I'm kidding, Qingdai. Don't go all Shaolin on me, please!

For once I'm happy not to have speakers at work.

Every time the cartoon cut to the one tiger pointing at his lack of ears, I burst out laughing. I would love to use a gif of that as an avatar (but not here because my use of any other avatar is a TOL* violation).

A rhyme just for you, Sock Puppet:
(based on the Tiger with no ears avatar and what I imagine it saying)

I can't hear you!
I can't hear you!
I've no ears!
I've no ears!
You keep fucking talking
Shut your fucking pie hole
You dumb cunt.
You dumb cunt.

Spoilered so I don't ruin wei yau's lovely nursery rhyme thread with my vulgarity and irreverence.

I'm sure you must mean TOl. :narrow: (That's a lowercase l, not an I)

her lessons are in Mandarin.

I don't even know where Mandarin is!
:duh:

Somebody actually said that ^ to me once. It was an imbecile on a mainstream parenting forum. I told her it was next to Orange (small country town in New South Wales). She believed me. :giggle:

Anywhoo, cool nursery rhyme!

Hey, no worries, the skeezy guys on the corner are the ones selling the tiger parts (at least in Nanjing and Shanghai).

Plus I wouldn't go shaolin on you, brudah.

So, I see that evil wei was not content with just an earless Pooh. Noooo.. he had to go and de-ear Tigger now too! :shakeglare:

Very cute. :^^ Cool that you both are learning a lot. :joecool2:

And when will that be? :waiting:
Now, oh, impatient one. :tsktsk:
