So, being a career mystery-lover (and since we've all been commissioned post-slutters)...I'd like to start a thread dedicated to any and all theories regarding the identity of our most cherished utter nutter Boronut.

Is Boronut a sock for someone we already know?

Is Boronut someone one of us knows irl?

...Who...is...Boronut?

He is a nut, that's for sure. I love his twisted sense of humor.

Just so everyone's on the same page, this is Boro Nut (http://www.iidb.org/vbb/member.php?u=1403). He's been a much-needed voice of satire on IIDB for years now.

Who is Boronut?

No, really, I'm asking, who the hell is Boronut? I can't find any Boronut on the members list.....

Ohhhhh, you're too quick for me :P

Make me the fool will you.... now I'm even more determined to take down that tetris score :glare:

I don't think he's anyone's sock puppet. He used to post mostly serious posts, occasionally, in RRP/Elsewhere back when I was a mod.

Boro Nut used to post mostly serious posts? That must have been before my time - which was before RRP/~E~.

Maybe he went through a mostly serious period which I was unaware of.

According to his profile he's from Middlesbrough, the same place my Dad is from. So I think he's real. :yup:

But I think we should ascertain from Ronin whether the Boronut he's thinking of is indeed the same person as IIDB's Boro Nut. Just to be sure.

Were I the kind of person who pointed out logical fallacies I would leap on this. Be glad I'm not...

Cmon Joe, this is only The Watering Hole, not a forum for in-depth logical discussions! Do I even have to be logical here? I thought TWH was for shooting the breeze and inflating post counts.

That's strange. You should still be able to see that page; it's just his profile, you don't have to be logged in to see it.

I think each thread (and yea, post) should be judged as serious or not based on its own merits -- or lack thereof -- in context. Hence, therefore, and sundry: I see no reasonable justification for Joe's implied illumination of a logical fallacy herein.

To wit and ab solvo.

I think I'm banned from the entire board. I cannot access anything in that site and I cannot log out of that site either.

There were one or two, of that I'm sure. Details as to the thread are lost in the depths of my mind. There were so many threads to read through that they've all become jumbled together.

I claim that inflating my post count was a perfect justification for pointing out that I wasn't going to point out a logical fallacy that was never intended to be serious in a thread that Ronin still hasn't clarified.

I have eaten your broccoli with extreme prejudice.

Sorry, everyone...I was in error.

I was, in fact, thinking of Bor O'nut - the famous Norwegian Mick who often spins puns in iambic pentameter for the criminally mundane over at shackleddingleberries.org

...my bad.

See, I knew it...we were thinking of the wrong guy!

Is being mundane always a criminal offense? How much of your time is spent going after the criminally mundane, Ronin?

Is being mundane always a criminal offense?

Not "always", no. It just depends on which jurisdiction you're in.

How much of your time is spent going after the criminally mundane, Ronin?

Helen

Half a cup to just a smidge under a quart.

I think SkepticJ may be trying to intimate that he's Boro Nut (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1862). Or perhaps rather, imitate.

Ronin

Well...hmmm...I'll keep my eye on him, GW, just in case he spontaneously comes up with something along these lines to convince me:

“And God went mental. He punished Adam with having to toil for a living, and Eve with terrible pain in childbirth. And how did God punish the snake? He’s the one who caused it all remember. He commanded that he would have to crawl around on his belly. Not really a punishment for a snake is it?

I bet he was going “What? But I already…. I haven’t got any le… Oh no, right. No. Yeah. That‘s awful. Yeah. You got me there. Nice one. Oh. How does this go again? Oh yeah. Oh this is horrible. I wish I could fly like normal.“

or:

"Do animals have rights? I don’t think so, or we would see a hell of a lot more animal lawyers. People say there are two schools of thought on animal rights, but do you still believe anything they told you at school? I think it is for adults to decide, not schoolkids."

:roflmao:

Boro Nut rocks! I love him.

For a while there I was wondering if he was a real life comic or comedy writer who was testing stuff at II. But I think he mentioned once that he's an engineer.

Are you thinking of Howard, lunachick? He is both a comedy writer who tests out his articles/thoughts on IIDB for his publication as well as an engineer, iirc.

Oh no, I know who Howard is, and that he tests his writing on us. Although I haven't a great deal of time there for awhile, I remember his stuff well. :yup:

I thought Boro had a similar thing going on for a wee while, even though he never said so. I don't think that anymore, though. I think IIDB is more Boro's way of relaxing and having some clever fun after a day at work. Luckily he chose somehwre where we also happen to be. He sure adds value.
