I just noticed that nobody's sig line is showing up, and I've sent a message to Brian to ask him to have a look at it. It's likely a quick and easy fix so don't worry that your literary masterpiece might be forever lost. Still, he won't be back until tomorrow so we'll have to do without until then.

Please post here if you find any other glitches tonight. Or for any reason at all.

Now, theres one teeny, tiny glitch! I didn't even notice because I don't have a banner in my sig. So far, this seems like an exeedingly smooth transition. :D

The quotes on forum home seem to be down. I believe it's a known 3.06 bug and can be fixed by running a query and reenabling. Here's (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showpost.php?p=599841&postcount=249) the fix for it, I think.

I've also noticed the Who Posted (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66318) hack has gone awry -- when you click on the number of a replies next to a username it just opens the entire thread again in the window instead of just that user's posts -- but there's no support to be find for it at vb.org and the creator hasn't even posted there in months. I'm hoping you'll be able to figure it out right quick 'cause I really love this little hack even though I'm probably the only person who uses it. :shy:

You know (cause you told me :giggle: ) that v3Articles is down for the count, but since the articles are still safe in the DB, I think we should wait to worry about it until version 2.0 of this pretty princess (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74189) comes out in a week or so.

That's all I've got from this late hour. Thank you, Tom. None of this would be even remotely possible without you. You rule.

Now I'm off to try and sleep again. :moped:

I thought that was a rather heavy-handed attempt to get me to edit my own sig. Man you guys are tough!

Sigs and articles are back. Brian, yet again, rocks.

Seven of Nine

Yes, he does!

Hey, check out Brim's sig! Maybe I should ask koan to get me out of that vault? :qhelp:

She certainly seems to have some kind of powerful hold on him. He never edited a damn thing at my request. :kickscan:

It's amazing, isn't it? I wonder what she has on him.

I have a question, before the upgrade, Who's Online didn't say who a recipiant or sender of a private message was, it used to just say that a person was creating a message or viewing private messages and so on without giving the details of the sender or the recipiant. Is it supposed to be like this?

livius drusus

Good catch, Beth. We changed an ACP setting and now all you should see for PM locations is a nice, generic "Private Messaging". Thank you. :thankee:

Is the disappearance of quotes something that was done on purpose? :(

livius drusus

No, luna. I mentioned in post 3 of this thread that quotes seem to have a problem with version 3.06. We're working on it.

I haven't been on in a while. I didn't even realise you were doing an upgrade. Can this board display doubles spaces between sentences?

livius drusus
02-17-2005, 02:55 PM
You know, I have no idea. I always use double spaces after a period just out of habit, but I can't say I've ever paid attention to whether it comes through in a post.

Let's see (top line single space; second line double):

Hello. Hello. Hello.
Hello. Hello. Hello.

And using a fixed font:

Hello. Hello. Hello.
Hello. Hello. Hello.

Much to my amazement, it looks like the answer to your question is no, MonCapitan.

You know, I have no idea. I always use double spaces after a period just out of habit...That's how I was trained to type as well. I quit doing it after running into a punctuation nazi* at IIDB. :rolleye1:

Multiple spaces have always been collapsed to single ones,

except in code boxes
and their variants,
html and php

Now, what's this? In the vbcode help for "spoiler" (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/misc.php?do=bbcode#spoiler), it says "To create a title, use spoiler=title."
But it doesn't work.

Oh. Well, ya see, back in the day, the fist version of the spoiler code allowed you to title the box so [spoiler=JoeP] would convert into something like "Warning! Spoiler about JoeP".

When we upgraded from 3.0 to 3.01, however, the title just wouldn't work, and given all the other stuff that still needed doing, we decided just to stick with the basic box but totally forgot until this very moment to change the vB FAQ to so reflect. Woopsie.

Fist. :giggle:

I just tested it and it works for me. What make/model/version of browser are you using?

Seven of Nine

Wel, hot damn! It just worked for me, VM. It just doesn't alert me when I first get here, I guess?

viscousmemories

Hmm... I don't know why that would be the case, but maybe it is.

If I find out anything more I'll let ya know.

Hey, it beats me, vm! Thanks! :D
I wish I could just remember to look up to check, but I never can.

I use e-mail notifications for PM's and everything else, without which I wouldn't remember my name. :)

Say what now?
It's been fixed now. :)

When you're looking at a given forum index, you can see a "Replies" column that shows the number of replies a particular thread has had. If you click that number, a window opens up showing you who all has posted in the thread and how many times. If you click on any one of those numbers, a thread will appear showing only that members posts from the thread. :slide:

You know, Tom, we totally have to figure out how to implement that forum tip of the day idea you had. That way I wouldn't be the only one using all our clever but obscure wee hacks.

I'm the new Mini Golf champion and it doesn't say so on the front page of the arcade :fuming: The last new champion is still ceptimus at Simon! (and I'm coming for you buddy! Just wait and see :glare: )

I just noticed this... I have Thread Preview disabled in my Thread Display Options. But when I use the Show New Posts feature, those damn preview hovertext boxes pop up all over the place. I hate that feature.

Oops. It didn't occur to me until I came looking for this post just now that I never acknowledged it. I'm sorry, Skeptoid.

I came bearing good tidings, though. It's fixed. :)
