I had an interesting idea for picking the best smilies in the larger catagories. Before you post the poll, you should post a nomination thread, allowing each poster to nominate a single smilie from the category. Then the poll can include just the smilies that were nominated. :yup:

My only concern is that without sufficient number of participants, the nomination threads would simply be duplicated in the voting thread. In effect, the nomination thread would automatically decide the victor.

Still, I think it's do-able. Certain moreso than creating a battle encompassing ALL the smileys from a huge category. Wouldn't be so bad, if somebody weren't so obsessive.

Why not have everyone create a thread for their own favourite smiley?

No, no. Every poster to the nominate thread would have to pick a NEW smilie that had not yet been nominated. So there would be no voting, just nominating. If your favorite is nominated, you just pick your second favorite, etc... :yup:
