View Full Version : Aborted threads/posts?

I was just wondering if many of you folks do this very often? I start writing a reply to a thread and then I think better of it and delete it and move on. I find myself doing this a lot on this forum for some reason.
Also a few times I have written a quick reply and instead of hitting the submit button, I hit back or I hit the go button thus losing my post. I often don't realize this until I look back at the post after someone else has replied and go: "Where is my post?" :chin: I then I consider accusing the admins of stealth moderation. Hypocrites!
(Ironically enough I almost aborted this thread. )

Yes I do that alot. I preview my post and realize that it's probably offensive or stupid or off-topic. Sometimes I go to post in a thread and realize I just don't know what to say. For example I sat for ten minutes this last weekend trying to think of something encouraging to say to Eldar. Nothing doing. :(

Oh yeah, happens to me all the time. This is why you see me visiting a lot but seldom contributing.
I have a lot of self-doubt, you see. Also I'm a tad schizophrenic. (And so am I.) You are not! Stop trying to hog all the damned attention!

I do it all the time. Can you imagine having to actually read more from me?
Ok, where are the pro-thread activists right now? :hide:

Hey, don't be sad!
That's an awfully nice thing that you wanted to do, even if I never saw the post, I appreciate the sentiment.

Okay, y'all are going to kick my v-barring ass, but I do this all the time too. I have made a concerted effort here on FF to fight this very powerful urge and on the whole, it's worked pretty well. I consider it a kind of desensitization therapy.
On the other hand, part of me is rather dejected at the sight of so many off the cuff posts with my name on them. They used to be special... :deepsigh:

I tend to regret what I've posted ten minutes later, rush back to edit it out of the box...only to find it's already been read and quoted.

Heh, I almost aborted this post... I do it all the time as well, but I am trying to alter this habit. Ever since my no-edit policy came into play, its become much harder, as if I am dissatisfied with what I write, my only option is to abort. Still, all that means is that I have to try even more. :)

Why the no edit policy?

It happens quite often with me. An idea pops into my head and then while it is being typed up is dismissed as being pointless.

Hey, if I can upload :pointless: for you, you can post pointlessness for me. :)

Why the no edit policy?
Because when you are sitting a written exam, you don't have that option, unfortunately (well, you do, except its messy as all heck). So, its time to get rid of that habit.
Also, it has the added advantage of making the process of posting much quicker, if at the sacrifice of some quality.

Nope, rarely do that. Usually just start typing, then hit submit, then proofread maybe;)

Oh, I do it all the time. For a while, I was actually submitting the post with a "hey nonnie nonnie and a f* you too". Then the horrified realization of what I had wrought would hit and I'd do a very rapid edit. Those folks who had thread subscriptions used to get some rather juicy fishy-rants in the emailed text of my original post, only to find that I'd replaced the shocking masterpiece with something :innocent2: benign.
Now, I just try to stay away when I'm cranky. I get cranky when I can't see well, though I'd like to decouple my emotional state from that unfortunate physical condition. Until then, I do a lot of typing and then backspacing to placate my inner crank. Or I stay away. :bottle: 'Cuz y'all hate me when I can't see. :glare: I know you do. :( And then I get really sad. :tiptoe:
And aside from mod/admin duties at IIDB and the occasional birthday thread, I've probably opened less than a dozen threads my entire IIDB/HH/FF time. I was emotionally traumatized by the last one I can recall opening and I believe I am scarred for life because of it. :sadcheer: Good gosh, I so suck at bulletin boards!!!! :yikes:

:fuming: I've aborted threads and posts on this site because some of you fecal matter brained guys(asexual term) are the direct cause of it. Evey time I have some brilliant  thing to say I scroll back a few posts and it is like you guys are reading my mind and stealing all my ideas out of it. :glare: I hope you find it amusing that you are doing this to me.
Both my psychologist and my psychiatrist say that it is all in my mind but I know better than them. I know you guys are stealing my thoughts. You are the worst kind of idea stealing preverts I have ever known. At least the other posts wouldn't only just steal all the good ideas. They would take some of the crummy ones too. That's why you got a poster here called crumb. :chin: He is probably the thoughts that someone stole a little while back. :hysteric:
For you guys that don't steal people's thoughts, thank you  . For all you other thought thieving mind readers you will pay. :guns:

See! See! Already you're going to steal an idea and take it to the shitty thead.
Ther'e :brooding: no way that I'm going to let you guys gst away with stealing my ideas out of my head. I'll set up barricades in my mind and you guys will get my :write: There,s no way to win with you guys :chin:.
I'll figure out how to get you yet!:poke: You won't like ripping me off for long once I start to use my magical powers :fuming:
