It is the year of the Ox, the Earth Ox to be more precise.
So, happy Chinese New Year to all of you...even the gwailos.

So tempted to make my cow-man-mutant guy. Usually I call him MightyMoo, but on this auspicious occasion I'd try for Butte Ox.

This will never work, and it's also why you can't ever go back to the petting zoo.

This innocuous thread about a major holiday observed by hundreds of millions of people in an ancient and profoundly influential culture is quickly becoming a stale recitation of Western racist stereotypes and smears. And implied bestiality.
I approve.

Dagnabbit. I was hoping to start the Chinese New Year thread.
So here is one Chinese astrological take, "Whether ploughing fields or carrying heavy loads, the Ox has served mankind [and apparently Brotherman] well. Strong, hard working and reliable he is a dutiful worker [watch out ChuckF]"
The guy, Neil Somerville, then goes on to spout true-isms, and other obvious vague stuff, but whatever.
Happy Lunar New Year.

Nor did anyone celebrate the Cherokee New Year (Nv-wo-ti E-qua) celebrated during the new moon of October.

Rabbit in the moon? How'd it get there?
It's Asian folklore. They don't see a face, ie the "Man in the Moon", instead they see a Rabbit. Cultural pareidolia difference I supppose.

The shape near his feet is a vessel, in which he makes the exlir of life.

I was making a Mystery Science Theater 3000 joke. Thanks for the info though.
