... is 42. Why did Adams say this? What inspired him?

It is also 42 days until I'm in the arms of my love.

I'm going to be 42 this year, and one of my peers is also. He's throwing a Douglas Adams birthday party.
They have a sauna and said to, "bring a towel."

Dammnnn, you're old...:grin:

I turned 42 years old this year. Wish I had known about the Douglas Adams birthday idea.

I'll probably just settle with a death theme for my birthday this year.

Black balloons, Black iced cake....:giggle::wave:

It's the loud rock and roll music or the pangalatic gargleblasters I've been drinking.

Scrabble.

Some of the character names, "Don't Panic" and the like all add up to "42." He based each of his books, in a way, on a game.

This was discovered by Me Sis one day with a Scrabble board. She detests science fiction, preferring the more constipated works of James, Proust, and Austin. I challenged her to put down the book after reading the first paragraph.

It really hurt her to admit defeat since she knew I would dance the "I Told You So" dance with an accordion.
