I got nuthin'. :sadcheer:

I mean, I don't even understand what the mob thread's about except somebody's complaining and somebody's complaining about somebody's else's complaining and somebody else is complaining because somebody's else's complaint doesn't make sense so then the original complainer really appreciates that and tries to form a complainer's alliance, but that isn't quite working out either.

I'd like to be the first to suggest an anti-whine mob (with me as your humble ruler, of course). Even though, I admit, I am on another board where all I do (according to general consensus on said board) is complain.

Holy crap, wei, I thought this was gonna be about aerasil too.

I was digging in the mob thread to see exactly when it became all about mick, and discovered that I'd completely forgotten about Democracy and the bizarre grammar workshop he inserted into the middle of that trainwreck.

I support this idea because we can never have too many mobs.

So what's the thing with these mobs anyway? Do I need to bring my own torch and pitchfork or are those provided? Are there monthly dues or just a one-time membership fee? Anything in particular I should wear? Is the scheduling flexible? Do we have union representation? Are injuries in the "line of duty" covered? Any manuals or documentation I should read? I'm a little nervous...

I think both torches and chickens are provided, let me check the manual:

Membership in the Censorious Unserious Mob requires mickthinks to enroll you; mainly you need only to disagree with him at some point and then not take him particularly seriously, and bim-boom-bam, Mob's your uncle.

It was about something else a long time ago; the last year or more it is mostly mickthinks trolling and being counter-trolled, and then mickthinks attempting to subvert the counter-trolling by beefing up his trolling, which is kind of like... hmm. Cathy and Marmaduke trying to put out an oil-well fire by setting off explosives. Strapped to Billy from Family Circus. I think Ziggy is in there somewhere too but the metaphor isn't built to withstand that kind of combined weight.

Is this the part where I mention that explosives are actually quite handy in putting out oil-well fires?

Yes, they are, when applied in the correct proportion by someone other than Cathy and Marmaduke, in the correct location which is probably not strapped to Billy who is known to wander and have difficulty staying on task. I was looking for the idea that Troll/ counter-troll is fighting fire with fire, which can, err, backfire... shit this is devolving into "lightning bolts from the Sun." There is probably a better task that is risky if not done correctly that I could have used as a metaphor, that also incorporates the time element, but has the correct amount of ludicrous in there as it mostly involves keyboard grudge-fucking. I'm trying to figure out how to say it... bath-house tryst competitive soap-dropping? Yeah I'm shooting blanks.

Ay əpruv əv thıs thred.

LOL@Ädəm'z thänks
İzi ib düš tser əð.

Ok, I'll explain it so that people can actually understand. I was writing the words out phonemically, then reversing that, rather than reversing the regular spellings.

Hence, I approve of this thread becomes "Aı əpruv øv ðıs þred."

ð is the symbol for edh, which has the sound of th in "them."

þ is the symbol thorn, which has the sound of th in "thorn." The International Phonetic Alphabet symbol for this sound is theta, but þ was used in Old English and is currently used in Icelandic, and I just like it better and think it looks better being used with the Latin alphabet.

ı is a dotless i, which should not be hard to figure out is the sound of i in bit. This is almost the IPA symbol for that sound. Dotted i is the sound of ee in beet.

ə is a schwa, which has the short sound like "uh" in words like collide, or about.

I use ä for IPA æ, and ø for IPA Λ... just because I like them better or for ease of use. ä is the sound of a in bat, and ø is the sound of u in but.

š is sh, not too hard.

I wrote "ur" sounds as ər even backwards because it's actually a vowel, and the r is not pronounced as a distinct consonant for most people, so reversing it should still result in a rhotic vowel.

Rather than writing LOL, I used an abbreviation using the symbol that corresponds to the last sound in the words. If you write laugh out loud phonemically, and then reverse it, you get dwal twa fäl, hence DTF.

So, if you know what the symbols are, and you actually manage to read what I wrote out loud, record it, and then reverse the recording, the reversed recording would actually sound like the original sentences (albeit with strange pronunciation and very strange intonation).

You're probably still confused, but here's everything I wrote that way in this post (but outside of quotes), in order:

-Okay, I'll explain it:

-Reverse them, like so:

-You might be able to get it now, but if not:

Know that þ and ð = "th"

-If you are still confused by DTF, it means "laugh out loud."

-The rest should be easy.

That took a lot longer to explain than it took to do...
