It's no biggie. Spam is allowed/encouraged at CF. Pumps up forum stats I guess. I can post 1,000 times in 8 minutes in counting threads. I'm not exaggerating.

So an hour could be a 7,000 post bump. At that rate I'd be the top poster here in less than 6 hours.

Just to put it into perspective.

Yeah, if I'd put a few minutes of thought into those posts (as I do here) then I should be taken out and shot.

You would not be able to do that here, though. This forum doesn't and will never generate the level of activity IIDB does, let alone a place like Christian Forums. We'd need a much larger active membership to make being able to go up the lists like you mentioned even possible.

He'll posting by yourself a thousand times in a span of hours would likely be more activity than the board normally generates in a day, I would guess.

Not that everything I do on the forum is worthwhile, but it's like telling people you can count to a thousand and that you literally spend 15 minutes each day counting out loud to a thousand. It just sounds... kinda sad. And boring.

I hear what you're saying, but it's generally been as part of some challenge (who can reach 100,000, 200,000 posts the fastest. etc). And when I do this speed posting I don't even have to look at the monitor so it's generally done when I'm watching the news on tv which I'd be doing anyway (total news junkie, drives my wife insane). So it's not taking time away from anything else the way regular posting does.

Yeah, if I was sitting there staring blankly at a screen for 15 minutes that would be pretty pathetic. And yes, boring. But it's always done while watching something on the tube I'd be watching anyways. Multi-tasking if you will. :)

And I've been a member there for 5 years. My daily post average is 300 posts. So that's closer to 3 minutes a day speed posting rather than 15 anyway. If I'd done 15 minutes a day my post count would be two and a half million.
And speed posting accounts for 90% of my posts there.

Why would you want to do that, though. It sounds like a Sisyphean task more than anything. I can think of far better things to do than attempt to post several hundred times in one day.

In fact the most I have probably posted in a day was 80 something posts over at the IIDB (now known as FRDB) and that was quite a while ago. I don't think you would be able to have that kind of output here, though.

There simply isn't enough activity here to make such activity possible.

Well that's thing though, it's done while watching the news. If I wasn't doing it then I'd just be watching the news. I wouldn't be doing something else while watching the news. This speed posting requires none of my attention, it's automatic so I can do it while my full attention is on something else (the news). I can't think of anything else I could be doing while watching the news that would require zero attention from me. Well maybe if the anchor is hot...

As such, speed posting is taking nothing away from anything else. It's just something done in addition to something else I'd be doing anyway and requiring no extra time from me.

Seriously, speed posting takes no attention. I have one finger clicking the '1' key and another finger clicking the left mouse button hovering over 'post' at the same time. As fast as I can do that there's a new post.

At least I'm burning off 2 or 3 calories as opposed to simply sitting in a chair watching the news.

Well, as I said earlier, CF encourages it. There's a subforum set up specifically for it. My guess is that since CF is a moneymaking site, this pumps up forum stats (posts/day), bringing CF to the top in search engine searches, thus bringing in new visitors who'll click on the ads..

I freely admit I have a tiny penis. Pathetically small, really.

What I have to wonder about are the people who've racked up 30,000 actual posts on a non-spam allowing site. How the heck is that pulled off?

I still don't see the point tho. Who cares who has the highest post count? The only reason to care is just that being somewhere and posting a fair amount builds you credibility as someone who's invested in the site and not just a random spammer/troller/n00b/etc. But after you reach a certain number of posts and time there, it doesn't matter that much whether you have 5 or 8 or 10 thousand posts. And if it's known that you can inflate your post count like that, it carries even less weight.

It's like, I could participate in a contest to see who could jerk off 20 times in one day. But if all the winner gets is a chafed penis and a sore arm, I'm not really seeing the appeal of participating in the contest. Well, at least in that case you get 20 orgasms, so it's probably more worthwhile than posting contentless posts 50,000 times.

It's also a measure of your actual balls (that is, not your e-balls), I suppose.

Hey, forgive me. I've never used a spoiler tag before and it didn't occur to me that people would be viewing this site at work since at my workplace I'm expected to work rather than surf the web.

Oh, and fuck you too. :)

I'm guessing I don't have to hide that behind a spoiler tag since it's apparently okay in your workplace to call someone an asshole. (And everyone else's workplace too, right? Since you've posted 'asshole' without the magic tags.)

OMG! And it just got better! :gasp:

Now, when someone on your ignore list gets quoted like in Smilin's post above, the ignoree sees, rather than the ignored's post, "This message is hidden because Selmak is on your ignore list."! :celebrate:

:ffglomp:

First day on the internet? :D

Or just not familiar with vBulletin?

Uhhh...

Smilin....you quoted Semak and rather than seeing the part of Selmak's post that you quoted, I see this in it's place:

This message is hidden because Selmak is on your ignore list.

Thanks for taking the image down Selmak. I am one of the underemployed :ff: work surfers. :yup:

She did that long ago, Smilin.

At least, one naughty bit.

Trivia: In searching for that pic, I determined that Shelli has made posts referencing "boobs" 26 times. Shocking, I know. I would've thought there were a lot more.

Neither did I which is why I didn't. :pleased: The ignore feature is the single best self-moderation feature of the :ff:.
I agree with you there. I think the ignore feature is one of the best things Jelsoft added to vBulletin. It is a cause to :celebrate:.
