View Full Version : A Very Weird Injury

I'm telling you guys about it because my husband thinks I'm nuts and is now ignoring me, except to grimace when I show it to him.

Last night I was just standing there, removing wet laundry from the washer. I felt what I can only describe as "clicking" 2 or 3 times in one of the toes on my left foot. I thought it was the next to pinkie toe.

After I finished moving laundry about -and feeling a couple more clicks- I went into the house to have a look. My middle toe was beginning to bruise from the knuckle to the tip, and it was beginning to hurt and to swell. Today its still sore, and still bruised, though less black & blue and more purple-red.

I can't figure how I did this, its very weird. I mean, I am clumsy and I've been known to break, bruise and otherwise injure toes, but I always remember how I did it. But this is just too weird, because I wasn't doing anything to cause it.

Is it possible that you injured your toe earlier in the day and that the clicking and laundry has nothing to do with your injury; rather you just noticed the injury at that time?

Well, I would never say that its not possible, but like I say, I always (usually, almost always) remember stuff like this. Mostly because its accompanied by yelling and cussing of some sort.

Even weirder.... I was just now taking a shower and when water hit that toe it caused extreme itchiness! So, so very weird.

Are you suggesting I may have been probed?

Maybe I'm just seeing this with a wild untamed African viewpoint, but what I'm thinking is not a mechanical injury ... but a bite. We have insects (and possibly spiders) that click. Or make movements that you could feel as a click. Perhaps it was sitting on your 4th toe and bit/stung the 3rd one. The itchiness especially would suggest a bite/sting, though it could just be from the bruising.

I don't think you're nuts. I don't have any idea what's wrong with you, but I don't think you're nuts.

Jesus, man. Have you considered moving?

Maybe it was:

I wondered if it could be a spider! But thought that was even weirder than bones cracking for no reason at all. I was standing in my spidery garage in a pair of flip-flops. I looked down at my foot when I felt the "clicking", and didn't see anything, but the light wasn't that great. I'm not even sure the spiders are active yet, though.

I tried, but the spiders wouldn't let me. Nor the ants.

You need to stop feeding them.

Have you talked to an actual doctor about this? Or just us amateurs?

Bite sounds plausible to me. I've heard of that sort of thing happening from a bite. I'd definitely keep an eye on it.

It must be a bite of some sort. It's gotta be.

Off you go to the doctor, young lady. :doctor:

I only feed the mosquitos.
