Well I had my first (and my units first) dine in. For those who dont know what this is, its a highly ceremonial event, steeped in tradition(and booze). Basically its an ancient tradition that allows a military unit to let its hair down in a manner that doesn't violate the rules of professionalism and fraternization. Theres a meal and such. Ah and the grog bowl. Lets just say that you never want to end up drinking from it. Ech. Anyway. It was a fun event, especially when you started drinking two hours earlier. Ok so I was drunk before I got there. Really drunk. OH and a word of advice, when you're tipsy ass is changing into your dress uniform and someone says "nice man boobs" dont respond with "You're just jealous because MY milkshake brings all the boys to the yard." I may never live that one down.

How about you just keep your milkshake under wraps before you get anyone else pregnant.

Oooh, that reminds me, what color are government-issued nipple-tassels?

Olive drab is the standard issue. Desert colors if you're deployed into the sand.

I enjoy a good Dining In. As long as you have a good Mr. (or Madam) Vice. Someone who can handle even the most heinous infraction of the Rules of the Mess with grace and charisma.

We never had anything formal like that while I was in the Navy....
Well squadron picnics, but they weren't formal.....
Basically, when we'd pull into a port, me and my buddies would just go get slobbering drunk, stagger back to the ship and pass out in our racks....
good times!

The "Combat" ones are better. It's essentially the same thing except you wear the oldest, most worn out set of BDUs you can find (i.e. the one you don't mind fucking up) and there are water balloons and food fights.

Our Mr.Vice was pretty good and is a pretty funny guy, so he made it entertaining.
