View Full Version : Inducing Labour Naturally
Okay my cousin is 39 weeks and 1 day pregnant, she's at that stage when she wants it out.
Has anyone ever heard about the nipple stimulation method ???
Does it work ???
It is a practice often recommended by midwives when a woman is long past due or when labor is stalled. It causes the release of oxytocin, the same hormone that causes uterine contractions. This can be done manually or with an electric breast pump.

Any other suggestions ???
I never had any trouble here, my little one came out 4 weeks early :yup:

I've been reading everything birth related I can get my hands on and I keep coming across that for the most part, regardless of what you do, the baby comes when it's ready. Of course, tell that to me when I'm huge and uncomfortable :giggle:

Screw! Have intercourse! Fuck!
ETA: I wouldn't pump until after the baby comes. That first stuff that comes out is especially important for him to eat.

A lady on the teevee drank like a cup of cod liver oil and she was in the hospital within hours. She basically hurled that baby out of her.

P.S. Bah! Liv comes in faster . . . always too fast! :glare:

I told her that if she used her pump that she should freeze it for later ... Apparently her other half doesn't like the taste of milk so isn't willing to mimic a baby for her :D
Screw! Have intercourse! Fuck!
:yup: Yes it works. so does orgasm. Not that I'd know from experience... :shiftier:Problem here is they can't find a comfortable way for either of them ... I suggested a cup and a baster, it's only the sperm they need after all :P

She basically hurled that baby out of her.I read about the castor oil, it's not recommended as it causes the squits and bowel contractions which in turn may bring on labour ... Imagine the mess :puke::crap:
We've been trying to talk it out ... Obviously we're not very convincing about how wonderful it is out here

Jeez, you'd think that student docs would know that it's cod liver oil that should be inserted, and then a damn fine dicking to finish her off!

A sudden scare might do the trick. Try releasing a tiger or bear into her room.

Oh the Docs do know, it's their patients who come up with the idea of a ketchup bottle dildo followed by a toothbrush chaser as a labor inducing device.

Oy. Yes, babies come when they are good and ready.
Castor oil, nipple stimulation (and I don't think much milk comes out nor cholostrum, another thing that comes out when it is good and ready) have been used to start contractions. Doesn't mean that they are going to necessarily jump start labor.
The babies head has to be engaged too, which means down in the pelvis.
A bunch of unproductive contractions are irritating and disturb your sleep.
Walking can help.
I've had women have contractions during acupuncture, points on hands and feet only. One already had ruptured membranes, but no contractions, the other still had to be induced with cytotec.
As uncomfortable as the last trimester can be, patience seems to be best. That and taking a walk. Gives you something to do when you are learning patience.

Yeah, and it'll cause major diarrhea.
Raspberry leaf tea.
Orgasm.
She had a boy yesterday, 4 days early, not sure what she actually did though. Saturday night she went out for a meal, I think it might have been Indian :chief: <<< wrong type

Nothing like a bracing bowl of pemmican, dried buffalo strips and bear fat to get that baby out!
Or a nice curry.
Congratulations to your friend.
