View Full Version : Apology

I would like to apologize for the following:
Inadvertently copying Sonnet's black avatar -- I'm an idiot. It should've occurred to me someone must've made a statement that way.
The shitstorm in the seizure-inducing avatars thread -- I'm also tactless. I ended up offending everyone no matter what I meant, I wish I hadn't posted it.
Not following the recent other avatars thread -- I could have avoided this whole mess if I'd read that thing first, most of the answers were already in there. Did I mention blind?
Provoking Godfry in that Sciences thread -- Did I mention inarticulate? My post probably can be read either way, and given my track record it's not shocking he'd think the worst of me.
Posting a link in that TV commercials thread that wasn't a TV commercial -- Off-topic post, go me.
Barging in on/ressurecting that thread in Political -- Also, blind. I can't even read last-post dates!
Continuously refining posts even after I've made them -- I'm incorrigible, in fact I'm still doing this right now.
Celine Dion -- As a Canadian, there's no way I can weasel out of this one. I'm very sorry. I've quite effectively blown my welcome and my reputation here, so I'll probably be laying low for a while. Bye.

No, you haven't. I got pissed with you. So what, I'll get over it. I hope this little lunatic fest does not prevent you from posting in the future.

Celine Dion

Unforgiveable. :D

Corona,
I find that there's almost nothing that can't be repaired with a sincere apology/amends.

P.S. I really like your "corona" avatar.

P.P.S. I also incessantly edit my posts; in fact I'm doing it right now!

Corona already gave the inescapable exception:
Celine Dion.

Well I probably wouldn't have made my last post on the Seizure thread if I had seen this thread first. Anyway as I said on the other thread I think there has been a shortage of "benefit of the doubt" giving all around the last couple days. I really don't think anyone here had purely hostile intent.

I really don't think you've said anything to leave over, Corona. :(

Oh sorry, I meant with the exception of Celine Dion.

I would like to apologize for the following:
Inadvertently copying Sonnet's black avatar -- I'm an idiot. It should've occurred to me someone must've made a statement that way.I like your avatar.
The shitstorm in the seizure-inducing avatars thread -- I'm also tactless. I ended up offending everyone no matter what I meant, I wish I hadn't posted it.I didn't read it, but I wouldn't worry about it.
Not following the recent other avatars thread -- I could have avoided this whole mess if I'd read that thing first, most of the answers were already in there. Did I mention blind?Umm...where would you find the time to read every thread around here? I only have the time to randomly select a few threads to read on any given day (especially now that I have a job!). I don't know about anyone else around here, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest that you haven't read a bunch of threads related to a particular topic round here.
Provoking Godfry in that Sciences thread -- Did I mention inarticulate? My post probably can be read either way, and given my track record it's not shocking he'd think the worst of me.godfry was born to be provoked. I haven't read the thread, but I hope you provoked him gallantly. :D
Posting a link in that TV commercials thread that wasn't a TV commercial -- Off-topic post, go me.I'm not a fan of round donuts with the holes in the middle - I much prefer the ones that spelled 'doughnuts', and are round with crunchy crust all covered in cinnamon and sugar and then filled with a dob of jam and plenty of fresh whipped cream. Now them's are good doughnuts!
Barging in on/ressurecting that thread in Political -- Also, blind. I can't even read last-post dates!Personally, I don't know why people worry about old threads being resurrected, but that's just me.
Continuously refining posts even after I've made them -- I'm incorrigible, in fact I'm still doing this right now.I very rarely post anything without editting it several times. I don't know why I bother, actually - they're still full of mistakes an' shit.
Celine Dion -- As a Canadian, there's no way I can weasel out of this one.Good point. I don't quite know what to do about that one. She sure is one funkless chicken. I'm very sorry. I've quite effectively blown my welcome and my reputation here, so I'll probably be laying low for a while. Bye.

Don't be silly. You are definitely welcome, as is everyone 'cepting spammers. Are you a spammer? No. You're a lumberjack, so get back into those new pink tights and feel okay!

How do psychiatrists greet each other?

You're okay, how am I? :giggle:

I offer no apologies whatsoever for groan-worthy yawsless jokes. I'm mean that way.

What? Huh? Me? That is my name miscapitalized, right? Apology not necessary. If you learn I'm case-sensitive about my name, you'll be far ahead of the game.

Celine Dion -- As a Canadian, there's no way I can weasel out of this one. I'm very sorry.[/list] I've quite effectively blown my welcome and my reputation here, so I'll probably be laying low for a while. Bye.

Well, that is unforgivable. But, hey, it's not the Canucks that are buying her crap in droves....it's the 'Merkins. My fellow citizens just keep encouraging her by buying her product. Lay the blame where it belongs.

By the way, thanks for Sarah McLachlan and Natalie McMasters. If you stuff a sock in Celine and send us more like these two, all will be forgiven.

Hey, I *like* Celine Dion.

Well, I think your OP was funny and sweet and heartfelt. I think the arguments of the past couple days have been somewhat disproportionate, but barely even rank on the scale of forum flamewars.

I think it's time to put an end to this worn out welcome nonsense with a few pats on the back, possibly one or two of those manly one arm around the shoulder short squeeze things and then back to bidness as usual.

Lay low for a while, then pounce when no one expects it, that's what I say. Works for cats ...

... What?
What WinAce said. AND I like Sarah MacLachlan, too. But Gordon Lightfoot is my favorite . . . except that I like his lesser-known songs better than the ones that were his biggest sellers. But there's no accounting for taste, now, is there?

Corona, you're going to have to work a lot harder to effectively blow your welcome and your reputation with me. Besides, Joni Mitchell is from Canada! :woohoo:

What! We're not supposed to compulsively edit here??! oh no! Now I'll have to leave, without even beginning to assess my relative obnoxiousness! auggghhh! nooooooo! :kickscan:

Joni Mitchell

Avril Lavigne

Alanis Morissette

Shania Twain :lecher:

Barenaked Ladies

The Cowboy Junkies

All Canadians. And I have cds from all of the above, 'cept for Gordon, I've got about eight various LP vinyls. I'm a big fan of "The Canadian Railroad Trilogy." Likewise for Joanie Mitchell; no cds, all vinyl.

You forgot the Rankins...I've two of their cds.

The Guess Who? :puke:

godfry n. glad: Klaatu :pardon?:
Klaatu released their debut album in August 1976, which got a lot of radio airplay in Detroit. They were an unknown band seemingly coming out of nowhere and they sounded sufficiently like the Beatles that initial rumors were that it was the Beatles in cognito. For example, on their debut album, the track "Sub Rosa Subway" sounds just like Paul and is the kind of song he had done in the past. These rumors are probably what fueled their inital popularity.

godfry n. glad: The Guess Who? :puke: k.d. lang
Criticism of other people's taste in music is kind of ironic in this thread, of all places. :D

If I may quote something relevant to the matter:

Sonnet: It simply amazes me what people will actually take the time to complain about - much like Vonnegut's analogy about hostility toward novels being akin to donning full armor to attack a hot-fudge sundae. It always makes me wonder what else these people go around criticizing.
Now, I don't agree with Sonnet's observation as it applies to this forum, which is why I am not complaining about godfry's opinions about musical tastes. What do I care if he doesn't like k.d.lang? I think she is one fantastic singer and my enjoyment of her music is not tarnished by knowing that someone else is bored by her. I assume there's lots of people who don't like k.d.lang. So what. I don't like Robert Plant. So there. :)

It's all cool with me.

Except Celine Dion. You people have a LONG WAY TO GO to make up for that.

p.s. The black avatar was a sign of mourning for me. You're welcome to it.
