I got it wrong, actually. This (http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Caedes::Infopage&image=philcUK-1079110794.jpg) is my real wallpaper. The one I linked to above is one I seriously considered, though. Ex-zombie hooked me up with the link to the site. It's a motherlode of cool wallpaper sized pics.

Pulled a pic from Mt. St. Helens live camera archive: Not That Spectacular (http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/images/mshvolcanocam31.jpg).

The official Mt. St. Helens Volcano Cam website (http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/)

Well the eruption was about an hour later: 5:30. The plume was much bigger and is up to 36000 feet now.

You can't see the plume but here is a pic (http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/images/mshvolcanocam14.jpg)

17:30 local time:

That's nothing compared to the ash spewing that was going on back on October 5 when I just happened to look at that site.

But even that was nothing compared to the event that occurred September 28:
A giant fly emerges. (http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/archive/hall-of-fame/20040928-mutantfly2.shtml)

See, I told you it was impressive. At least it is blowing northeast, so we won't get any ash fall here.

Yeah, the hell with Yakima and Spokane.

Yeah, the hell with Yakima and Spokane.

I'm hoping for some pretty impressive sunsets over the next day or two.

Cheers,

Michael

Yeah, the hell with Yakima and Spokane.

Exactly.

Exactly.

Ya know, there was serious talk in the Spokane newspaper a couple of weeks ago about splitting eastern/central Washington off and making a new state. Considering how much time most of the locals spend complaining about how much they simply hate Seattle and everything else west of the Cascades, because "they're all a buncha damn Liberals", I'm inclined to think that it'd serve 'em right. I bet they'd change their tune pretty quick once the Westside stopped subsidizing all their roads and irrigation projects.

But since I (and my girlfriend, too) happen to live east of the Cascades at the moment, could we wait a few months before the Eastside is destroyed either by volcanic ash or its own short-sightedness? (Ab_Normal might appreciate that too.)

Cheers,

Michael

[Okay, okay, you can have Yakima. Nobody wants to claim it!]

I'll give you two months, 'cause I am a nice guy.

Then what, you're going to open the valve?

Hey, I can't hold the forces of nature back forever. I am just doing what I can.

Thanks for the defense, Michael. :D

As much as I hate moving, I'd be out of Spokane like a shot if the succession idiots ever got their way. I don't want to live in West Idaho, thank you very much, and all their talk of making the new state "bidness friendly" is code for "we'll reduce the minimum wage, eliminate labor and industries, get rid of that pesky WISHA, and forget the 40 hour work week".

Pssh. Yeah, I know. Ever since you first posted the link to the Volcano cam, I've been keeping an eye on it almost daily, and the one day that I really don't have much of a chance to check it out, something happens.

Then, when I actually hear that something's happening, it's too late. That is, it was dark out there, so nothing to be seen on the cam. I went to check the next morning from work, but since I'm on the east coast, it's (again) too dark to see anything.

Well, dognamed, guys...we'll just see if we can't get it on a better schedule for your viewing enjoyment.

Y'know, Shake, I bet Yakima and Spokane wouldn't object too much if you moved Mt. St. Helens over nearer to Rochester for you.
