I'm on dial-up and I've noticed no difference in page loading speed since the feature was turned off. I think the feature is probably more of a drain on server resources than it is a bandwidth hog. If there is no problem with server resources, I wouldn't care if the feature were to be re-enabled.

I'm pretty sure there is no problem with server resources, but I'll leave it to vm to say for sure.

It never was about bandwidth. Our thinking was that anything that requires more server resources to construct a thread necessarily slows the thread display somewhat. I think you're probably right, though, that the "users viewing this thread" feature doesn't have a substantial impact. If it's missed we might as well re-enable it.
