View Full Version : I'm sig-whoring too!

I just realized that with my new screen resolution at work, the word bubbles in my sig don't line up over the smiley like they useta. As a last resort I suppose I could change it to center-alignment, but before that I figured I'd start a superfluous poll.

They still look properly (and adorably) aligned to me. Can we get a screen cap of what you're seeing?

They look okay to me.

Here's what I'm seeing:

Okay, bigger issue. What the hell kind of crop tool are you using?

Some weird-assed thing that came with the new rig at work, called "Snipping Tool." Crazy, ain't it? I probably could have groped around for a box-drawing option, but this freehand thing was the default, and it was just freaky enough for me to like it.
ETA: Yeah, there's a drop-down to change to a rectangular tool. Booooooring.
ETA2: I just voted in my own poll; so far I'm the only one for whom it's fuXX0red.

They look fine in all viewing modes. I have a 1680 by 1050 display. I am using Firefox 3.5.

First...I note that you have no chickens in your sig.
Then your quote balloons, although aligned are a bit high. What have your quote balloons been smoking? Or, are they into the nitrous again?
Of course, given the source, people just might assume you are trying to make your sock puppet voices 'higher'. Which is why nobody says anything.
It's all in the interpretation, Sock.

I'd lower them if I could. That extra altitude appeared out of nowhere as I was fucking with the spacing, and I can't make it go away.

You're crazy man. Crazy.

It's the align code. It adds a hard return underneath [right] and [center], and I know of no way to change that.

I do...Switch to chickens.
livius drusus

Right aligned chickens would do the same thing.
Sock Puppet

Weird. I just tried doing a separate [right] around each line and eliminating my own hard return (i.e., {right}bubblestuff{/right}{right}smiley{/right}), but it made no difference. Apparently it sticks a hard return before the align code as well, or summat.
Edited ETA: liv fixed it! I thought it was my change, but liv done got all sneaky-like. W00T! :w00t:
I thought it might have been the indent code, but I can't replace the indent and figure out how many extra characters I'd need to make up the spacing difference without changing my resolution, and that's a pain in the ass. This stupid-assed computer would force me to reboot just to switch the res, and I'm too lazy to do that.
livius drusus

You're right! It totally is the indent code. Eleven periods does the trick.

give the the program you used to crop that, pleeeeeze

It didn't even occur to me that it was divine intervention what fixed it.

give the the program you used to crop that, pleeeeezeIt's Vista's SnippingTool. If you have Vista but not the utility, here's how to get it (http://www.pcworld.com/article/137099/activate_vistas_snipping_tool.html). If you don't have Vista, I dunno. I know, Vista came with something actually desirable? I'm as shocked as you probably are.

Nitrous sinks in air, and makes your voice lower.

Wait, wait, wait. You mean the no-indent trick fixed the alignment on your new resolution?
Sock Puppet

No, that's still a bit off. It just fixed the altitude problem on the word balloons.

Hmmm ... I wonder if it's text-size that's doing it to me. I increased it because the new resolution made everything tiny.

I did not know that
:carson:
It lowers your voice while making you high....hmmm, sounds dangerous.
What if you inhale helium on the side? Maybe that was Sock's problem?

I've seen it at 1280x1024 via window resizer and it never struck me as odd.
Sock Puppet

Yeah, I'm gonna see if putting the font size back to default changes it back. I'm 90% sure that's it, rather than resolution.

Now it looks a bit wonky. But just a bit.
Sock Puppet
08-20-2009, 10:13 PM
I can live with that, as long as each balloonie looks like it actually emanates from its respective sock. Unlike, say, those Mark Trail cartoons where it looks like the word balloon is coming from a giant racoon's ass.
