I registered for this comp, and have now received my awesomely intimiding brief package in the mail. It is very, very cool....and very frightening. I doubt I'll have a hope of winning the much covetted Canon D5 Mk II kit and photographic safari with pro photographer to Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge and Daintree Forest, and a 40 minute Helicopter tour of the Great Barrier Reef. But I'll try my damnedest, dammit!

If you guys want to join me for some photo fun, then the photo briefs are here (though you'll have to make the props provided yourselves): Canon EOS Photo5 - The photography briefs for 2009 (http://www1.canon.co.nz/worldofeos/Photo5/briefs/)

Now I have to convince Zoe to model for me in the "splat" photo. She's very reluctant, though I've no idea why. :innocent:

So, shall we also have our own FF Photo5, only without the amazing prizes and without really being competitive - just having some fun? You wanna? :eager:

Not, me, thanks. For a visual artist, I have abominable shot-framing skills.

That looks like fun! I haven't got through all the FAQs yet.... do I need to use a Canon camera to enter?

ETA: I don't time to move to New Zealand or Australia

Yeah, sorry about it only being an Australasian thing, but I thought you might like to play anyway, just 'cos it's fun and challenging to have a brief w/ a deadline.

I'm going to experiment with the Bokeh challenge over the next couple of nights. Join me if you want to. :)

Also, Canon sent out the first of it's tips to registrants today, and you can view it here: Canon EOS learn - World of EOS Learn: Experimenting with Lenses (http://www1.canon.com.au/worldofeos/learn/get-creative/experimenting-with-bokeh.aspx)

I'll update with more tips as they arrive.

Also, I got some work! I've been commissioned to photograph local sights for a calendar, will be shooting about 200 kids for a local school this Sunday (all boys aged between 5 and 10ish that play soccer - team pics), and assisting in a new studio for portrait shots (the main photographer will teach me all about studio lighting and I have my own key!). I'm so excited, you've no idea! :yay!:
