I stumbled across an article in Science magazine about human remains found frozen in the Italian-Austrian alps. He's been named Otzi, presumably due to the location of the find. In googling, I've just found a whole slew of mummy sites and references to the curse of Otzi the iceman.
Crimeny, they just found him in 1991. I heard the biggest curse was that they couldn't determine which side of the border he was located on....it looks as though he's ended up stored in Italy (http://www.mummytombs.com/museums/italy.tyrol.otzi.htm).
I understood from the Science article that it was possible that this find pushed back the history of metallurgy some several centuries. Has anybody heard any followup? Other than the curse, of course.

Before I split off this topic from another here, Celsus managed to respond as such:
On the iceman (Ötzi/Oetzi), I believe they worked out that he came from around Tyrol in Italy. I also read in Science that he had an arrowhead lodged in his shoulder, and the blood of 4 different people on various things he was carrying, indicating he'd been involved in some heavy fighting just before he died. I could abstract stuff from Science if you told me what you're looking for. I probably wouldn't want to meet him in a dark Alpine valley in winter.
Was the arrowhead metal or stone? I believe he was carrying a tool/weapon with a copper tip. I could probably find the Science article, but if you have it handy, post it up.
I'm going to search the post-1991 scientific journals for more up-to-date information on what they found with him.
Four different human blood samples, eh?

"The Man in the Ice" was a pretty interesting book. He had a copper axe, and they could tell what he had to eat. The drawings showed various layers of his clothing, including a grass cloak.

If you google for info, I'm sure you will find tons. Off the top of my head, I believe the arrow heads were flint.
When we look back into our ancestry, we certainly must be struck with how ready humanity has always been to destroy its own kind. What a vicious and cruel species we are that fight our own species to the death. On the other hand, if our ancestors wouldn't have been that way, they wouldn't have survived and we wouldn't be here either.
To think, there are people that believe that (the) god(s) created such an evil species and in his/her/its own image and likeness. What supreme blasphemy!! If that's true and they really did, their god(s) must be evil indeed.
