OK, so I was just in the chat room. Tried to change my default font family / color for my own chat messages. Tried Verdana, I believe.

On the first try, my own text was invisible to me, although visible to everyone else. So I tried a second time, to make my text visible / distinctive.

But after the second try, I couldn't see anything or even type anything, so I exited, closed out FireFox, and restarted the session again.

Now apparently I am locked out of the chatroom. It says "another user is logged on with this user name. Please try again."
:sadcheer: :sadcheer:

Someone can help widdle ol me? :(

Oops, sorry Sauron. I was busy chatting and didn't see this. :)

Unfortunately it takes at least a minute for the database to clear your old connection when you log out (or get booted) so that's why you got that error message.

Is it possible to modify the chat software? Specifically, I'd like to see something done to eliminate conflicting background and text colors in the "Public log" area.

I'm sure it's possible to modify the software. Know any Flash programmers? :D

I realize it's a big problem. Almost every time I've been in that chatroom with more than a couple of others, much time has been devoted to people trying to resolve conflicts between their respective fonts and background colors. Unfortunately the only resolution I can think of (as I'm not a Flash programmer) is to disable the individual selection of fonts and background colors.

So unless we get a volunteer to do the software modification, I'll probably do that.

Anyone have a better idea?

Perhaps setting a default background such as the light gray we have here would suffice. It's nice to be able to change the text to make it easier to identify individuals.

Hmm... that's a good idea. Okay, that's the new frontrunner. :)
