I may be asking a bit much here but is there any chance of some kind of notifying type thing on the forum to let everyone know how many people are currently in the chat room?

What the hell kind of place are you people running anyway?

It's there. You just have to expend a little effort to see it. Open the Quick Links menu and select Who's Chatting. This will tell you not only how many people are chatting, but who they are.

The forum index now has a "Who's in Chat?" box down near the "Who's Online" boxes. :)
