yeah, so I spent four days in daytona with some friends, I got back and my comp died.


:(

luckily, I have friends even nerdier than myself.

windows wouldnt even start, it was that fucked.

my friend keo, made a boot cd and got windows up and running, we took my original harddrive and enslaved the fucker. keo also installed, shall we say not copyright compliant copy of windows xp professional on my new 80 gig harddrive, and some very cool free programs, now I am up and running again.

So how do you know it was a virus which felled the mighty beyelzan oak, and what are you doing to protect yourself this time around?

well, windows wouldnt start at all, but the harddrive is still functional. and avg found something like 20 trojans on my comp. avg is also the answer to the second question as to what I am doing about it now. I also have this really cool freeware firewall that seems to work really well. I assume it's freeware, but it could very well be um other ware.
