Crumb is not a member of any public groups
So what is this all about anyway? Is this some functionality we are missing out on?
Fess up!

You'd know if you were in the group.

It's being in the private groups that one has to watch out for. You might find yourself in the Twine Fancier's Brotherhood or the Pebble Collecting Club and not even know it!

Nevermind those two, Crumb. This is the story with groups. Right now, you're in the Registered Users group, vm and I are in the Administrators group and anyone who hasn't activated their account yet is in the Unactivated group. Each group has different permissions assigned to it, so for example the Unactivated can change their profiles, but they can't post yet.
Now, these are considered private groups because you don't get to pick if you're a member of them. If we created a public group, you could assign yourself to it. This is most often used on forums which have clubs -- forums and/or subforums dedicated to one specific interest.
Does that help or is it clear as mud?
I think it would help if you created some public groups.
"Members who want to know what public groups are"
"Members who have read the explanation and are still confused"
"Members who don't want to belong to any public groups"
then people could join up at will and feel a sense of belonging.

So you can create some super secret forum that only members of a particular group can see, eh? Maybe we should start a smiley appreciation club. heh.

Smiley appreciation shouldn't be kept hidden, by gum. We will not be ashamed, no matter what Abdul says. :victory:

I like the Forum just as it is. I find the threads very interesting and some very amusing. The people here are great!

I don't don't want to know what public groups are.
I only pretended to read the explanation.
I would join the third group.

Is there some kind of discipline system that I am not aware of? Or do we get special benefits for bringing new members to FF? :chin:

Actually none of the above. I'm gonna disable that referral thing right now. :)
