Should one post with a certain restraint, shall it might alienate a member of a subgroup in the forum? Is it useful, at all, to be critical of anothers values when they disagree with your right to free speech? Should an apology have been made? By whom? Is upsetting our friend give any of us the sort of remorse we should feel when we have lost a friend? Do we consider eachother friends here? Is there a point where all things fun cease to be funny when you stare into the face of the matter- that we hurt a poor woman's feelings? Will Plant Woman ever come back? Does it matter? Do you care? How can we make this situation about Gonzo? Should we make a poll? Should we ban Sock Puppet? If PW does not come back, will Gonzo really leave this forum forever? Have you even tried? How does this make you feel?

Everybody go on your super coolass facebook walls and twatter pages and tell Plant Woman that I am protesting Free Thoughts as well as launching a campaign against the Forum made of Free Thoughts in attempt to leave the forum and never return. Shall you convince her to return, if you apologize (or even have to beg), tell her I, Gonzo Cactuspants, am on her side, but also a little more famous than she is. With the attention I gather from creating this poll which will soon make me famous once & for all, I shall bring peace to earth and goodwits to man.

Since there is no "Planet X" option, I vote "you're a twat and we need Plant Woman back."

I can feel it now, I'm almost as famous as Doctor X now. He is getting intimidated by my fame-charged muscle-flexs.

I thought I would finish the Trilogy of Self-Ban by self-banning myself in a heroic gesture that will make everybody here at :ff: want my autograph, Once and For All. Like after Fonzie had jumped his van over a shark pit for ratings.

I think this whole deal could have been handled a lot better.

I like Plant Woman. I like Bey. I like ES (I've met her in person, and she is fabulous). One thing I like about this board is that although we frequently take the piss out of each other, we still (generally) respect one another.

Now, Plant Woman and Bey have different triggers for their pasts. Apparently, Pedobear triggers PW. Bey finds it funny. I dislike the implication that this makes PW "weak;" I'm sure Bey has a trigger that would just roll off her back (If I wanted to put up with attitudes like "HA HA YOU'RE WEAK" I would go to RnR, thank you).

Now, my history isn't like theirs, but I was constantly criticized when I was growing up, especially by my father. To this day, there are certain subjects that cause a strong reaction in me (even if the criticism is given in a good-hearted teasing way). This is obviously nothing like sexual abuse, but it puts it in perspective for me.

Hello Gonzo,

I have read your posting and wish to compliment you, not just only for the eloquence of it's form, but for the substantive nature of it's content. Being somewhat new to this forum, I am largely unfamiliar with Plant Woman, however, if one were to judge the nature of her being, after looking at the images in her picture gallery, one would surely be inclined to think of her as a gentle and loving soul.

With regard to your question as to the nature of the relationships among individuals on an internet talk forum, I say, are we not all people? Of course we are, therefore the fact that our physical distance may be substantial, the amount of separation between our respective psyches is hardly any distance at all.......which, in my opinion, perfectly sums up the current situation that we here at the talk forum seems to find ourselves in.

To summarize thus far, a thread was posted with the intent to discuss a politically valid question, "What to make of internet censorship", as well as probably post up some amusing Pedobear graphics. Anyways, the subject of child sexual abuse was touched upon, and the serious nature that is the radical alteration of a child's worldview was brought into the discussion. Unfortunately, every day somewhere in the world this horrible act occurs, and one can only hope that somehow the young child not only knows to seek help, but that the help is even there to begin with. For this situation, I am confident that as man continues to evolve and technologies arise so that the detection of these infractions becomes more evident, time is only needed for it's complete eradication.

As to the situation of one user's worldview coming into conflict with another's, that subject matter is largely housed in the realm of the human psyche, and the fact of the matter is, that those sorts of differences have haunted man's existence ever since the first new languages sprang into existence. In our current situation, I believe that when stated in it's most simple form, what we have here is one user feeling that there are certain lines that should not be crossed under any circumstances and another user who views no subject "taboo".

Perhaps an analogy will help to clarify this statement.......OK, lets say an individual is fully committed to serving Christ, might that individual choose not to frequent talk forums that are responsible for graphics such as ones of the following nature?

http://knowyourmeme.com/i/941/original/jesus_lol_2.jpg

Perhaps, but then again, a fully committed "evangelist type" might seek those sorts of places out in an active manner in an attempt to do an outreach.......(maybe not such a good analogy to our current situation, but I think you get the idea)

Anyways, there is that particular worldview, which has seemingly come in contact with this other distinct worldview, that being the belief that we are what we think, and that belief largely extols the belief that for any one thought that might elicit a reactive response in thought, a weakness will exist which will only serve to lessen that individual's control over their own mind. This too is a valid viewpoint. To embrace pain so that pain can be overcome is an age old pursuit......

Are either the absolute right way to live one's life? Of course not. The mental warrior type must spend lots of energy and time actively honing the edge on their mental equivalent of a Ginsu Knife. This takes a life of careful and attentive study and is lots of work. The other worldview simply views life as a series of choices and for every "wrong choice" that is made, a right choice must be not chosen. There are only a certain number of minutes in a day and once a minute disappears into the void of history, they aren't coming back. In other words, act with purpose in such a way as to maximize outcomes.

For me, I probably have a completely separate view, but one thing is for sure, we are all going to have to be responsible for our own actions and as our gracious host, livius drusus, has pointed out this talk forum offers certain tools by which one user can strike another user's content invalid and invisible.

I know not what other's may do, but for me, I choose to stay and fight, here at freethought-forum.com, so that I may continue to actively work in such a way so that the advancement of the worldview of Tim Brewer is realized upon the face of the earth and I seize power as Vice President!

:)

I have lots of triggers but they trigger anger. Like if I see a man really shouting at a woman I will go over and just stare at him, in case it gets physical I want to be where I can fuck him up. I really dont have any triggers that make me cringe or cry. The past is buried it is the way of the world. I wouldn't say that having triggers makes one week and I didn't say something to pw because she found pedobear offensive. I felt she was derailing my humorous thread.

Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says "Treatment is simple. Great clown Gonzo is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says "But, doctor...I am Gonzo." Good joke. Everybody laugh.
