The Lone Ranger

She's the daughter of two of my oldest friends. (I actually introduced them, as it happens.) And she wants to be a herpetologist.
She loves the outdoors, snakes, lizards, frogs, salamanders, spiders -- the lot. So naturally, I want to do everything I can to encourage her in those loves. For her birthday a few weeks ago, I sent her copies of two of my favorite herpetology-related books. One should be at about her current reading ability. The other will be ... a bit challenging for her at the moment ... but she'll grow into it (and it has amazing photographs).
So I received a letter from her yesterday. It includes the lines: "Will you be coming to visit during the summer? Pretty please with sugar on top?"
Like I could refuse such an invitation! I'm looking forward to taking her to some of my old favorite snake- and frog- and salamander-hunting sites, and to teaching her the proper use of a lizard noose and of a snake stick.
So anyway, my day is officially made!
Cheers,
Michael
