New Journal System!

I've taken the journals offline temporarily. Do not be alarmed, they will return.

Oh, right. Oops, sorry. I did a database backup before installing the journal system, and I forgot that the new backup program I use temporarily disables the board. :doh:

Incidentally the installation seems to have been successful, but liv still has a bit of work to do before we'll be ready to unveil it.

Probably only a couple more hours, tops.

All the moods are installed, ladies and gents, and the journal doors are now officially open. You might notice it looks different in there. That's because we finally got a journal hack which doesn't suck and vm imported all the old entries and comments from the previous version.

All y'all seriously need to kiss his ass on this one because he worked on it for days and now it looks great and works even better.

Just a quick question. I clicked member options-journals. A page opened up and I notice that on the right hand side where it says Last entry on all the member's journals it says

12-31-1969 04:00 PM.

It's an unfortunate but apparently unavoidable side effect of the migration. The next time anyone updates their journal it will reflect the real date/time.

Only two, really. The other 15 I was letting my thumb adjust to my ass.

I just want to point out that you can have multiple journals per person now. You can name them anything you want, so you could have a private diary as well a public talk about whatever's on your mind box. You can have a total private one, a private one readable by your buddies, a totally public one.

I'm thinking anyone who might have had private entries mingled with public ones in the old system might be interested in maintaining two totally separate journals.

I just tried to make a new journal and got this message: "Sorry, but you already have a journal. If you did not create that journal please contact your board administrator."

but I still really like the system.
