What is the purpose of having a 30-second delay between searches here?
First time I've seen that, and was just curious...

I suspect that's the default setting, actually. The general reason for such delays is that searches are server-intensive and can slurp up resources making the site even more sluggish than it already is.

I don't think we're necessarily committed to the 30 seconds, but I really can't speak authoritatively on the subject because vm is the server master.

That's interesting. It only applies to non-admins and then only when you're using advanced search, so as an admin who typically uses the drop down search box I never even noticed it. I've gone ahead and changed it to 5 seconds. We have no need to restrict that so much.
