My nine year old likes to compose (for piano, so far). We just got a recording of her playing her latest composition Battle Suite (http://www.mynl.com/media/BattleSuite.mp3) up on the Internet.
She's submitting this to a composition festival in a couple of days.

I'm sure you must be very proud of her, Helen. I'll let you know what I think in about 10 minutes or so.

That's amazing, Helen. You said she's 9? I'm extremely impressed!

Yes, she is nine. Thanks for being patient enough to do the download with dial-up (I am soooo glad we have DSL) and thanks for your comments!

It's unbelievable, Helen. I am seriously sitting here thinking I can't even believe your nine year old daughter wrote this piece. I'd be amazed just to hear her play it so well. To know she's the composer is a whole new level of impressedness.
Brava! :appl:

Keep us updated on how she does in the festival.

NINE? Wow! I've been playing piano for 42-43 years and can't do that. I loved the Ragtime-like bit at the end.

/me curses not even having dial-up at home, and having mp3s blocked at work
But I'm still impressed, from all the comments here.
