In the "Animal Rights" thread, my last post is there 3 times. How did that happen? And is there a way for me to delete my own posts that I can't see?

Don't hit the submit button more than once. If the page won't load, copy your post onto your clipboard (for safekeeping) and then go back to the thread and see if your post took. If not, go ahead and paste it again, but don't sit there re-hitting submit waiting for the page to load.
You can't delete the post, but you can edit the content down to next to nothing. Or you can replace it with the :dddp: smilie.
Aside: It won't let you post identical new threads, only identical replies within a thread. Earlier I started a new thread, and being impatient myself, I hit the submit button more than once. I got sent to a screen that said I couldn't post identical new topics within five minutes or something like that. Smart me: I hit the back button and then copied my post onto the clipboard. Lo and behold, my new thread was not in the index, so I went back and posted it again. Admins: can you make it so you get that notice screen instead of double posting?

Or we can delete the posts for you.
I'm not sure if that feature's available for double posts, JD. I'll look into it though.

What is the mechanism it uses to spot duplicate OPs? Couldn't that technology be applied to duplicate replies? I presume the former is to foil spammers, but it should work for the latter, too, non?

I'll have to check, but I assume it just compares titles. It would likely be more server intensive to compare the post content. Doesn't mean it can't be done, though. I'll keep looking.

Ah yes....patience. Something I don't have a surplus of...
I'm sure I hit the "submit" button more than once but don't even recall. I'll go find that double post smiley and use it accordingly. Unless, of course, VM has already got there and yanked them.

I propose a possible solution in this thread (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=55751#post55751). Please comment!
