View Full Version : Missing signature

I got rid of the angrynana that was my .sig, because it was distracting and confusing, especially when reading threads about, or containing a lot of, smilies. So for a while I had no .sig, and that was okay, but now I'm trying to have one again, and it won't show up.
When I do "Edit Signature" it is there, and it looks like it's good to go. But I don't see it under my posts. I even hit the F5. I have looked for a "show my signature" checkbox, but if there is one, it eludes me.
(How much are you bet my .sig shows up for this post, just to make me look like a douche? Any takers?)

I see it (and approve heartily). Do you see other people's sigs? If so, check your custom filters page to see if you might put your own siggy on ignore by mistake at some point.

I see it on the OP, but not on any of my older posts. Does it not apply to older posts? I always thought it did.
(or maybe I was just trying to draw your attention to it, as I so desparately covet your hearty approval. :chin: )

well, if you would be so kind as to let me know what your sig means then you conceivably could receive my not nearly so valuable approval.

I thought it did too, J.D., but I can clearly see that we were wrong. :comfort:

babelfish gave me this
Which piuma to the wind, dumb of accent and thought
which still doesnt make any sense.
but it did remind me of a certain nameless shady cunt.

Try it with "piume" and don't forget to stick my custom title in front of it.
The woman and piece of furniture. Which piume to the wind, dumb of accent and thought.
meh. babelfish sucks.
Your new sig should show up in any post you made while you had a sig in your profile. IOW, any post you made while a sig was absent from your profile will not show your sig.

/me chuckles.
I too went to babelfish, and got the same translation, and had the exact same thoughts about it.

 You make too much sense, Skeptoid. Since I so very rarely am without a .sig, I never noticed before! Thanks! :)

Subsitituting piume, and inserting your title gives: The woman é mobile Which piume to the wind, dumb of accent and thought. Still doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I know, that is so weird. Cuz when I did "feathers" from English to Italian, I got 'piume.'
Anyway, it says something like:
The women are moblie (finicky? wishy-washy?)
Like feathers to the wind
Mute of accent and of thought
I dunno. I don't know Italian. Maybe liv can help?

:chuckle: Man, that Babelfish stuff is hilarious.
Your final non-Babelfish translation is basically right, JD. Mobile is probably best translated as fickle in this context. The guy singing it is a total fuck 'em and forget 'em manwhore projecting his own character defects onto women in general. Ends in tragedy, needless to say.

Here's a workaround for the next time you find yourself between sigs. Put the following URL between [IMG] tags in your sig file. http://img82.echo.cx/img82/2191/bug5mm.gif It's a 1x1 pixel graphic that's the same color as the forum background so it will be invisible. Then when you decide on a new sig, it will show in the posts you made while you "didn't have a sig." :)

Is it the same color as the forum background, or is it transparent? :? If it's transparent, I used to know another one that was 12 px wide, for forcing whitespace to html text. That was in the olden days. Now I'm sure there are far more effecient ways of doing that. Anywho, Thanks! :D
