After a couple false starts that had me feeling like I could "check out any time I liked, but I could never leave" - I made it to Colorado this past Thursday afternoon.

Not long after I posted before, my relatively new laptop got hijacked by a virus of some sort and I was not able to get online at home for the last three weeks of my time there. Really made me realize how dependent I had (have) become on having online access for everything from paying bills, making travel arrangements, posting stuff on craigslist I needed to sell/give away... I ended up going to a nearby friends' house every few days to get stuff done that I needed to before leaving.

So, the movers came and packed up all my furniture on the 14th, it took me a few more days to get rid of some stuff and pack up my car, spent a few nights with my sister and hit the road on the 19th; drove all day and spent the night in Flagstaff and rolled into Durango the next day. The SO was in Chicago for a conference but I was welcomed by his sister and her family. I was in Farmington, NM doing some shopping on Saturday when I got a call from the movers that they would be here Sunday morning! Eek, I wasn't expecting them for another whole week!

They did a great job, Bo got back from Chicago later that afternoon and I spent yesterday unpacking boxes, setting up the guest bedroom and bathroom, and unloading my car. Today will be spent doing the final unpacking and organizing and tomorrow I will begin the process of plotting and planning THE ROAD TRIP!!! I plan to leave in about 2 1/2 weeks so I've got lots of plotting to do!!!

The trip out here reminded me how much I truly love driving and road tripping, so I am excited. I'm really enjoying it here though too, it's truly beautiful and a great little town. So different from where I came from but I already feel very comfortable here, it's pretty easy to know where everything is right away in such a small town (population approx. 16,000!) Also Bo's sister is principal of a local elementary school and was very excited when I offered to come to the school a few times and volunteer (probably with the reading and writing groups). She's one of those people who knows just about everyone too and has already introduced me to lots of new friends!

So everything is going swimmingly, especially since I can get online again! Oh that's the other cool thing - I was bummed about the prospect of having to spend more money getting a new laptop for the trip, but I was having dinner with my bio-dad the night before I left and mentioned the death of the Toshiba, and he's like "Oh I have this super lightweight notebook laptop that I NEVER use and you can have it!" It's perfect for my purposes - all I really need is A) wireless internet access and B) Word for writing. I'ts just what I needed and so easy to carry around, it can't weigh more than four or five pounds!

That's it for now... now I have to see what I've missed for the past month!
