I'm looking into purchasing the Oral-B Sonicare toothbrush. Anyone have any experience with this or others? I've heard that some so-called sonic brushes aren't actually sonic, they are just cheap knock-offs, but I'm pretty sure Oral-B is a brand I can trust. Any tips?

Edit: Upon further investigation, I see that Sonicare isn't even an Oral-B product, but rather Phillips. Wow I am ignorant of this topic.

I think Oral-B makes one too. I've got an Oral-B non-sonic electric toothbrush. I love it, knocks tartar buildup right off; dental hygenist suggested using it dry and that made the difference.

This (http://www.oralb.com/products/product.asp?tid=products&sub=power&cid=power&pid=plakcontrol) is the one I got about 5-1/2 years ago and is still chugging away, breaking up that plaque and tartar.

Smarty-pants. I have brushed my teeth with baking soda because I was out of toothpaste, that's about as tough as it ever got for me.

I think mine's... Hmm. Looks a lot like that Oral-B one. I've been very happy with it. Brushes my teeth better and faster.

I don't know about faster. Mine stutters when 2 minutes are reached. I almost always hit the stutter before I'm finished. I'd bet that's longer than I ever brushed with a manual toothbrush.

I know, it warps time so that it seems faster.

Old thread, look at my life... I'm a lot like you... were.

I'm thinking of getting an electric toothbrush of some sort. Any other recommendations?

I've had a Sonicare, I think this one (http://www.sonicare.com/products/advance/default.asp), for more than five years and it seems to work well.

The SO bought a toothbrush that has a battery in it - and it vibrates. I can't say that it cleans any better than a regular toothbrush, but in an emergency you could probably use it as a sex toy.

I've got this Sonicare (http://www.sonicare.com/products/essence/default.asp) and I love it. Even my dentist has noticed a difference.

I got some sonic brush or other, I don't remember which brand I went with. I didn't like it. I felt like it didn't leave my teeth as clean as manual brushing. I switched back.

I felt like the sonicare did a very good job of cleaning the teeth, but it was very hard to maneuver, made me slobber like an idiot, and itched my nose something terrible with all the vibration. I found the compact battery toothbrush was a better tool for me.

When I saw that CT had posted in this thread, I thought he was gonna reveal that he uses a tiny little gun to shoot the plaque off of his teeth.

That would be awesome.

I've been using a SoniCare and the dentist said it has improved my gum health.

So ummm... there's that.

I was sort of half in the market for a replacement toothbrush; based on this, I got a shiny new sonicare. It's pretty cool. I don't know how much cleaner it makes my teeth, but it makes a cool noise.

Our dentist recommended the Sonicare. Mrs. ShottleBop uses it faithfully; I prefer my manual.

Brik just got a Sonicare toothbrush and he loves it. He wanted me to try it, so I did and I only lasted about 3 seconds. IT TICKLES THE HELL OUT OF MY LIPS.

I couldn't do it. I'm a manual brusher all the way.
