Maybe I should quit while I am ahead. But no I am forging ever onward. This is not up to the standard I have set, but I wanted to us :ff: in a smiley, and figured this would be a good way to do it. (You are not obligated to use these smilies, liv. If you don't want it just leave it here.)

Any suggestions are appreciated, it's the only way I will learn.

That's great just the way it is. :cheer:

You're getting very good, very fast. Good job, man. :yup:

It's great, and I hope you will take my picky comments following as nothing more than an eternal indictment of your smilie-creating abilities and general character.

The motion of the sign is a little disturbing with the double-jerk. It looks like they're chanting something and it's not "WELCome TO F-F".

And what's with the blue and turquoise hannibal lecters? Are they wearing masks or braces?

I love the sign, although I agree with Joe that the double-jerk is weird. I don't like the noses on the guys, I'm afraid, and the thickness of the smiling mouths words on the big grin ones, but not on the plain smile ones. I don't think the O-mouthed dudes look like Jason or anything, but they do look odd.

I think it's fantastic that you're creating your very own smiley style, Crumb. You've barely started and you're already kicking ass. :yup:

Here it is without the double.

Careful with the complements or I might start to grow an ego. I can't afford to feed the both of us. So more than likely it would eat me alive.

I like the noses as well as the freaky mouths and all the different colors. Who wants a forum full of pretty-boy smilies that all look the same?

I really like it :) How do you create smilies, anyway?

I have just been drawing them in MS Paint and using a shareware program to do the animation.

really? hey cool I should give it a try .. though given that I have no artistic talent at all i doubt I would do all that well ;). Could you recommend a shareware programme though?

I use Paint Shop Pro 9 and (bundled with it) Animation Shop 3, for which I paid about R499 / £40. I messed around for years with PSP4 and Animation 2 which are nagware, but my daughter rilly rilly rilly wanted a decent graphics program so I got this - and it is excellent. We have both been wasting hours (a day) on art, photo editing, and now animations.

I haven't done any smilies, but for animation I use ImageReady, which comes with Photoshop. Not free, but simple! Took me about 15 minutes to learn it and create my first animation.

The program I am using is CoffeeCup GIF animator. I wouldn't recommend it though it is brain dead and starting to get on my nerves. I am certainly looking for something else.

Ulead Gif Animator costs about 50 bucks and it's what the famous darkmoon3636 of deviantART uses for her smilies. I've got the PSP/Animation Shop combo going myself.

darkmoon3636 is a chick?!

Yup. I would guess a young one too, although her dA profile (http://darkmoon3636.deviantart.com/) doesn't say.

Ulead Gif Animator costs about 50 bucks

This is what I use too ~ Ulead Animator 5

You can download it for a trial period as well, it is not very user friendly - it's a damn miracle that I figured out how to do anything. :wtf:

They look better without the noses.

But those smiles ... I feel like I'm being welcomed by the Stepford wives. It's creepy.

Use the force, young smileysmith.

Oh so much lovelier without noses. So much. I'm totally up for uploading it as is, Stepford mouths and all.
