Shaguar is always teling me there are no poisonous creatures in England...well he LIED! there is a brazilian wandering spider :spider2: terrorizing the countryside as i write, it is the most poisonous spider on earth. he was concerned about the deadly florida flora and fauna, accused me of trying to murder him when i asked him to pose with a 12 foot alligator...a perfectly reasonable photo request. and then was upset that i suggested a swim as the shark patrol hovered :shark2: :copter: , geeze, then he got annoyed at the "DO NOT WALK HERE, POISONOUS SNAKES" signs and wouldn't get out of the car.....but all along he has told me the only scary thing in England was SHEEP! :sheep: lies, all lies!! i feel so betrayed. :bigtear:

I hate them damn spiders with a passion.. :spider3: :yikes: :yipes: :scared:

of course around here we have the brown recluse spider which is by far the most disturbing spider. you may not even notice getting bit, until you get a wound that won't heal and just festers and grows, until the doc cuts a big chunk of flesh out.

Souyes, but it only has killed once in 97 years and even then only the elderly infirm and half-dead.... but Shaguar's dog found one a few weeks ago and had to go to national health, poor thing. it paralyzed his hindquarters.

I used to live where these were quite common.

I encountered one alone once when I was around 10. I am just damn glad that I saw it, but it didn't see me. I just calmly backed away.

My roommate in tech school was bit on the neck by one of these mother-fuckers.

I didn't say it was particularly dangerous - just poisonous :P
But poor dog :( Most Britons I would bet go through the whole of their lives without even seeing one.
Out of interest (and if you've mentioned this before apologies) is Shaguar here and you in the US? Or are you both here? I only get to read the boards sporadically so there are a lot of threads I miss and I had thought you were both in the US.

I was working in Hamburg, Germany about 8 years ago, and a guy at the plant loaned me a VCR and all his English language tapes to keep me occupied in the hotel room. The tape collection consisted entirely of Rowan Atkinson stuff: Mr. Bean and Black Adder.

That sound like Adam and me until he moved over here last year, good god those phone bills plus the expense of travelling over to Canada 3/4 times a year :)
If you want any info on visas etc? I can PM you our experiences :)

NO, he is offended by the three-foot-tall vultures in my yard and the fire ants.

That's the machine IBM made for the Nazi's to help them keep track of their victims.

Funny I should click on this thread and read about the Brazilian Wandering Spider, as I was just reading an article about it.
Apparently, after it bit a Chef, it fell in the freezer and appeared to die of cold, but just to make sure it had really died, the Chef poured boiling water on it, then stuck it in a jar and nuked it in the microwave in an attempt to not just kill it, but over kill it.
But later it came alive again! Just like in zombie movies or something! And a hospital worker thinking it was just a poor widdle wovewy spider, let it go in the garden. Authorities said not to worry, because the cold climate of Britian would have killed it shortly after release. Yeah, man, like I'm convinced this zombified spider died of garden, when it couldn't be killed by freezer, boiling water and microwavisation! :zombie:
