How are you? How's your family? Is the house still intact?

Yes, thank you Liv. We only got a little wind damage and a limb broke the side mirror off Jim's truck last night. We were able to come home. It came up the path I first heard of on Wed. It is sad. So many people died, 60 confirmed, thus far, in Punta Gorta. we were lucky, I was in Valrico, further awat from the storm, my home is in Plant City, a little closer. My mom and younger sibs experienced a little of the storm. She said she hid in the closet under the stairs and it was only loud winds. Some power lines were knocked down up the road from her though. Mobile homes further down were destroyed or damaged. I almost feel ashamed for worrying. Guilty I was scared or concerned when nothing happened to us and others lost everything.

It really was devastating out there. I'm relieved you and yours didn't encounter the worst case scenario.

I heard some 100+ people refused to evacuate one of the barrier islands. Who knows how they fared. Why are people so stupid?

I am glad you took precautions and are okay Beth.

Please do not feel ashamed for worrying. Hurricanes and Tropical Storms are extremely dangerous phenomena, and can be rather unpredictable. Even a "small" hurricane or "mere" tropical storm can be devastating if you are directly in it's path. I've experienced several such storms, both at sea as well as on land, and it's not something that you look forward to. Anyone who is anywhere near the projected path of such a storm is quite justified in worrying about it!
