You know when you get a line from a TV show or a movie stuck in your head and you use it constantly in all kinds of contexts out loud and to yourself until it becomes less of a line of dialogue and more of a mantra? I've got that syndrome right now with the subject of this thread, from the funniest sketch ever on Chapelle's Show.
Several Simpsons lines own prime real estate in my brain as well - purple is a fruit (Homer, Lisa, jelly donuts), I don't know (a la Homer pretending to be Burns and not knowing his first name), and of course d'oh - but is Wayne Brady going to have to choke a bitch definitely dominates right now.
Anybody else suffering from this strain of pop culturitis?

Gee, I must have lived a sheltered, good girl life. I never heard it till the show.

Weird. I use it all the time and thought I'd been using it forever, but now that I think of it, I really can't remember saying dumbass before the show. :hypno2:

I can attest to the use of dumbass as far back as the Fall of 1979. I was never one to keep my mouth shut in college (or before) and would frequently provide a sharp witted quip in response to one of my less sharp witted acquaintances. I was often told "don't be a smart ass" to which my reply invariably was "better to be a smart ass than a dumbass." It usually took a beat or two for the implication to set in. Needless to say it generally did not endear me to these folks.
I haven't seen the That 70s Show so I don't know how they use "dumbass," but I'm sure 1979 wasn't the first time I used the phrase. When and where is the show set?

Yes! I used to say that all the time when I was a kid. Of course I thought I had coined it, but y'know... kids. :yup:

I love That 70s Show AND The Simpsons. Hardly a day goes by without me quoting something from either.
Remember on "70's" when Kelso was stoned and he kept saying "Ya know what's a funny word??? Pickelweasle!!!" So that is a new favorite word of mine. Fez talking about loving "caaaaandy" and "about to dooooooo it!!" My cat likes to eat strange things off the floor. I call him Fez, cause he did that once, thinking it was an M&M.
So many from the Simpsons....speaking of great meats like ham and pork and bacon....Lisa says it all comes from the same animal. "Oh SURE!! A mystical magical animal...." "Forbidden doooouuughnut." "gaaahhhhh (drool)" "Eeeexcelent."

"I'm a bad man."
from Repo man. The line is
"Only one way to tell if your woman really loves you. If she'll have your dog. ...I'm a bad man."
On the soundtrack, there is a little extra emphasis on the "have."
