I know we have a "What's for dinner?" thread, but I never want to just post what I'm having in that one unless it's all gore-may and has a kickass recipe to go with it.

/me is easily intimidated.

But, seriously, I really just wanna know what everyone is deciding to eat throughout the day. Maybe it's 'cuz I want some ideas, but mostly it's because I'm just nosey and want to know how your days are going.

So... if anyone is willing to satisfy my "just wondering..." urges, I'd love to hear what you are having: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks. Did you eat out with a friend and skipped the meal, opting for desert? Did you get creative at the vending machine with your last $2.45? Did you drive thru fast food and inhale a burger while driving, drinking coffee, smoking and calling your broker to swap .com selections?

Inquiring minds wanna know!

I'll confess my shameful eating habits today  :D

Breakfast: coffee w/flavored creamer and just the top part of a blueberry muffin, 4 or 5 miniature pretzel twist-thingies.

More coffee mid-morning, then several diet cokes.

Lunch: most of a Zone Bar.

Midafternoon (starrrrving...) Light microwave popcorn.

Not sure what's for dinner yet but it better be good ( <----- admonishing self since I am the one cooking) 'cuz I am hunGREE!!!

I'm thinking maybe pasta primavera with some tuna. But it could end up being beef jerky and some sweet pickles, ya just never know.

Hey, now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

Speaking of beef jerky, that's probably what I'll have for dinner with raw carrots and nonfat plain yogurt.

Sounds vaguely healthy, but it's only because I was a doofus this morning and forgot the lovingly packed in Tupperware leftovers from last night that are still sitting on the top shelf of my refrigerator at home. :(

The last six weeks or so I have been pretrty much living on porridge. My old friend of 20 years, Paul, has been feeding me a proper meal at his house 2 or 3 times a week 'cos he loves me and he cooks real good.

However, while out and about this morning, I found a $2 coin outside the lotto shop which didn't want any advertising. So, I bought 2 x $1 'scratchies', and won $50! Woohoo! So, I'm going to pay Paul back by heading up to his place with a couple of DVD's to watch and cook him some pan-fried fresh Salmon fillets with dill an' lime an' stuff, and have a nice fresh mesclin, cherry tomato, and baby spinach salad, with minted baby potatoes and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.

WoohoO!
People always ask me why I walk with my head down. Mostly it's because I wish to remain upright by avoiding obstacles, but I always figure if I don't, I might miss the winning Lotto ticket.

And what a great dinner with which to celebrate, too! What's mesclin?

What's mesclin?

Actually I spelt it wrong. It's mesclun. I must've had it slightly confused with mescalin, which will not be in the salad.

Mesclun are mixed baby greens, usually widely divergent in flavor, color and texture, that make a monster delicious salad with the simplest oil and vinegar dressing. My favorite mixture is radicchio, frisee, arugula, mizuna and spinach.

Oh the weedy salad!
:newy:
They sell those mixtures in handy pillow sized bags at the organic markets. I don't know what they put in the mix, but I'll see if my favorite matches up with some of your recommendations, livius.

lunachick, you kinda freaked me out with that link: I was in the middle of a "pickup at store" purchase from the Lowe's website (ceiling fan and tall fescue grass seed) in another browser window when I clicked your link here. For a second there, I thought I had screwed up and lost my shopping cart and credit card info with a stray click on one of their links!

What did I eat today?

The 3 Crispy Strip combo meal from KFC, with mashed potatoes, coleslaw and a Sierra Mist.

2 bowls cream of mushroom soup, with some chopped parsley.

The last of the orzo salad. (http://www.freethought-forum.com/forum/journal.php?do=view&journalid=32#Crow,%20and%20delicious%20pasta%20salad)

Lots of seltzer water with lemon juice.

Ooooh. Gormy.

It is super duper yummy, luna, and I bet at least 3 of my favorites will be in your mixed bag, pesci. :chomp:

My bag has mizuna, tatsoi, red chard, rocket, frillace, red cos, green oak, red oak, frisee, curly endive, lolla rossa, lolla biondi, green cos, spinach, mibuna. Whew! Y'know I've never read the bag before. What are those things!!

Anyway, I have another bag of baby spinach to add to it because I love it so much.

Pesci, the link was pure serendipity, and possibly even a message from God to treat yourself to some.

RevDahlia, will you marry me? I think I'm in love with you. (Except for the KFC thing, that is. That's just icky.)

For breakfast I had a bagelwich. A toasted bagel, add a fried egg, a morningstar mock sausage pattie and a slice of American cheese.

For lunch I had a chicken sandwich and bag of chips from a local deli.

For dinner I made a salad (romaine, red onion, diced tomatoes, feta, garlic/shallot dressing), and followed it with cajun rubbed salmon and rice pilaf.

I had three Pillsbury chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

I didn't have time for breakfast this morning, so at about 11:30 am I had a couple English muffins with Light Buttery Taste (a butter substitute) and red currant jelly.

For dinner we had some leftover BBQ beef (Sweet Baby Ray's Hot & Spicy BBQ sauce  ) on a toasted kaiser roll and *shame* some frozen dinner type (Stouffer's?) macaroni & cheese, which I left under the broiler with the kaiser rolls a few minutes to get nice & toasty on top.

Marry you? Sure! I've been looking for an excuse to flee to New Zealand.

The KFC was icky. I live a block away from a KFC, and every six months I cave and buy "food" there. I always regret it and I never learn.

Just to make catalyst and vm (and any other Ann Arbor ex-patriates) salivate, I'll brag and say that I went to Zingerman's (http://www.zingermans.com/deli/menu.pasp) today for lunch. Mmmm, yummy. Nice day, eating some good deli food in the sunshine...does it really get any better?

I haven't had much to eat today at all yet, in fact. Some corn chips. Leave me to work on something and I tend to forget about my dietary requirements. I'm a good cook when I think about it, which is to say, I'm not a good cook, really. ;)

Dinner's looking up, though, since I put a huge chicken pot pie in the oven.

One frozen chicken pot pie and too much Beck's Dark. Mm. Bloated.
