The apology for war atrocities from the prime minister of Japan did little to dampen the bitterness of the Chinese. So what else can be tried?
According to a headline of the Japan Times Online (http://www.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/getarticle.pl5?fd20050522tc.htm#2), "Busty child reported to ease anti-Japan tension in China." If anything about Saaya is miraculous, it's her body -- she wears an F-cup bra, though she has yet to reach her teens. So when a photo of her in a bikini was posted on a Chinese Internet forum called "100," she immediately caused a sensation. The pic was accompanied by message -- rendered in mock Marxist rhetoric -- reading: "An 11-year-old Japanese girl with large breasts has a proclamation for all Chinese people! Dear elder brothers, a beautiful young Japanese girl is beseeching you.
"Please stop these anti-Japanese hijinks. If you don't, I won't like you anymore."
At the end of the message, she states that her breasts would "rise up" if the people "unite for the sake of China's democracy."The F-cup in Asia is not the same F-cup of the western scale, but the girl's knockers are sizeable for a preteen nonetheless. The Chinese reaction:Shortly after the photo and message were posted, the number of anti-Japanese postings rapidly declined, largely replaced by messages praising the girl's loveliness.
"This is one Japanese import I won't be boycotting," gushed one admirer. Another said, "She doesn't look 11. She's gotta be 18."Further words of insight:Shukan Bunshun [a Japanese weekly magazine] muses that Tokyo should have sent Saaya rather than a bunch of stuffy government officials to China next time it wants its diplomatic efforts to be effective.

Warrenly, thanks for sharing that. That website is gold!....Okay? Ok. So anyway, the whole "black men have big dicks" stereotype stretches far and wide, even to the nation's 12 year olds. Part of why I'm here is not just to kind of sort of help teach English, but to "broaden cultural perceptions". Break stereotypes, challenge preconcieved notions, all that jazz. That's good and all, but this is one stereotype I think I'm just gonna let slide. So anyway, I get asked "bigu dikku" A LOT. Every 2-3 days in fact, which is amazing considering I got asked this question about 2-3 times *in my entire life* in America. Locker room jokes aside. How do you answer that anyway? To a 12-15 year old? I wave them off and say "No no no." Then they say "Oh, sumaru dikku?" (trans. "Small dick?") and OF COURSE that's wrong so I have to correct them. It's just a no-win stiuation.
On the days I'm avoiding them asking me that, I'm avoiding them actually trying to grab it. I shit you not, I have to play Dodgedick with Japanese Jr. High kids on a weekly basis. Boys and girls! Age, gender, doesn't matter, they all want a stab at it. The boys are actually more persistant though. I had one boy grab for it, and when I said "No!" he put his hands together and, in English, said "Please!" Oh hell no. I was sitting next to a 12-year old boy who kept grabbing at it, and when I told him "No!" he asked "Why not?" I wondered if there weren't some cultural bounds I wasn't understsanding, so I said clearly "age 10 years and become female since birth, then we'll talk." Both of these links were posted on fark.com. One of the comments about the 12 year old was "I'd wait 7 years to hit it." Isn't that more appropriate than asking for donations for a one-way ticket to Japan?

The age of consent laws are determined by the local prefectures and vary accordingly. I have heard 13, 14, 15, 16, and 18. Beth, I didn't know that men who had sex with underage girls out of the US could be prosecuted when they got home! I am all in favour of getting the sick fucker sex tourist types but how far would they press that rule? For instance, here in the UK the age of consent is 16 and I believe that in France it's 15. I also believe that in some US states it's 18 (?). Would a US man who had a one night stand with a 17 year old whilst on holiday here (but did not come here for that purpose) be prosecuted in the US if it was found out?
I'm not sure, I'm not a lawyer. I think he could if he had paid for the sex (because of child prostitution laws), but I am not sure if he would if it was consentual.

Apparently she has an extremely busy real life and the stupid here (not clear if she meant the stupid here in general or specifically my stupid) was outweighing the funny, so she had to cut it out of her "places regularly visited online". It makes sense. I know if I had a real life I'd have to seriously cut down on the number of forums I post on too, and I would absolutely quit those where the stupid outweighed the funny first.
